4.0 out of 5 stars A great book for teenage girls who like reality., February 2, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sophie (Fab Five) (Paperback)
The book Sophie was written by Rosie Rushton had a fantastic plot. This book is about an average teenage girl who has problems that most teenagers have to deal with. Sophie has a nagging mother, a divorced father who wants her to move in with him, and a girl in school that annoys her. Sophie, the average teenager who lives with her divorced mother finds out that the "grass isn't always greener on the other side." She has a report that has to be written for her life skills class about poverty. Growing up going to private school and living in a posh apartment on top of her mother's home furnishing's store, Sophie doesn't exactly know what being poor is like. Soon though, she is about to find out. When her father comes to visit, he tells her about his charity work that he is doing in Africa. Sophie's father was thinking of moving to England and to have Sophie live with him. I enjoyed this book very much, and I thought that it was very interesting. If you are a teenage girl, then this book is going to be very fun for you and your friends to read. The book is almost two hundred and fifty pages, but it is not hard to understand. If these topics sound familiar to you, then I would read the book Sophie that was written by Rosie Rushton.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sophie by Rosie Rushton, June 10, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sophie (Fab Five) (Paperback)
Sophie by Rosie Rushton is a great novel. The book is about a girl named Sophie who's Mom doesn't care about what is important to her but only about meeting the right people. Sophie wishes her mom would care about things that matter like her father who does charity work in Africa. Sophie loves her father very much and wants to hang out with him a lot more. When he comes for a visit and she goes to a shelter with him for a poverty report for school she sees that her father is not that great after all, especially because he does not approve of her going out with her boyfriend Tony who is a mixed race. At the end she sees that her mom is actually very cool and her dad is not as great as she thought he was.
I liked this book a lot because the plot was very creative. I thought it was very clever how at the beginning Sophie thought her dad was the best but at the end she found out that he wasn't that great. I also liked how she became very relaxed around Tony when around most boys she was very nervous and uneasy. I loved the setting of the book, which was London and the lingo they used it was very interesting to learn and decipher. The setting of the book was also very unique to me because most books I have read are in every day boring settings but London is a very cool and unique place.
In conclusion I think that Sophie by Rosie Rushton is a great novel. It is very interesting and will keep you at the edge of your seat and you won't be able to put it down.
