This book is AWESOME in its breadth and depth of topics on social media and young people today and it's tween friendly language.

As a classroom teacher, there are many useful conversation starters/journal topic ideas ingrained within the book. I will be using Sophie Takes a Selfie in my own classroom during family meetings to help my students navigate the world of social media with success.

This topical, relevant, easy to read book is the perfect solution for any parent, teacher, or counselor that wishes to open a conversation about social media with a young person in order to help them navigate it safely and with confidence.

Highly recommended!

This meaningful book for parents, grandparents and their children is an important prompt for starting conversations that NEED to happen. With so much access today as well as permanence for much of what gets posted on the Internet, this kind of valuable information fills a big need - and just in time as technology gets even more pervasive and connected to our daily lives. As a very early adopter of social media tools as a professional marketer and as an adjunct professor of social network marketing, I've seen the good, the bad and the "I can't believe someone posted that online." As an educator and new parent, I've vowed to teach not only my students, but my own child as well with the lessons from this book leading the way!

I realized while reading this book that although it is intended as a resource for parents to guide their children along the increasingly complicated path of using social media, it is perfectly applicable to people of all ages. Like our kids, parents also need to be responsible with what they are posting on social media sites as well as their text messages and especially pictures that once sent can never be retrieved. I was impressed at the wide range of issues J.J. Cannon addresses, and the how and why to be careful explained in a way kids can relate to... What a great book for your child or grandchild.

This perfectly timed book is a must have in today's world of cyber-speek and instant photos. Brilliantly written by an expert in social media, and also a caring mom with her own children. I hope @Sophie Takes a #Selfie becomes mandatory in all schools. Not only is it good for kids, but also for adults ;)

Before unleashing your children into the world of social media, arm them with the rules and etiquette they need to stay safe. This charming book is easy to read yet packs quite the educational punch. Read, review and start a conversation, your child is worth it!

J.J. Cannon has created a timely guide for helping your teen (or you) navigate the sometimes hurtful and dangerous world of social media. Clever illustrations and crisp appealing prose will catch the attention of readers... and Sophie's rules can go a long way to keep your young person from making regretful mistakes. Sophie knows that hurtful posts never go away and that bullying online can harm and even kill others. Every home with a teenager and an internet device should also have a copy of Sophie Takes a Selfie.

J.J. Cannon puts in perspective what some parents have yet to even think about. With so much sharing through social media how are parents supposed to keep on top of it all without a set of guidelines? Thank you for the reminder that what is shared and written through technology is never really gone, and a mean post followed by "jk" doesn't make it all better! I will be reading this book with even my youngest child as a necessary tool for social media etiquette.
