4.0 out of 5 stars Sophie's early work, April 15, 2007
This review is from: Sophie's Table (Penguin Cookery Library) (Paperback)
I bought this cookbook because a friend tipped me off to its flourless chocolate chip cookie recipe, which is brilliant and, in itself, reason enough to buy the cookbook. Overall the book isn't as great as some of her later works (I'm especially fond of Sophie Grigson's Country Kitchen), but it's still head and shoulders above most of the competition. Very much worth acquiring.

When I received this book in the mail, I joked that I knew why it was out of print: Perhaps Grigson herself had bought up all the available copies to prevent people from seeing the cover photo! It shows her awkward and spotty and an absolute poster child for bad 80s fashion--and it wasn't the 80s anymore. It's nice to see that some of our heroes were less than glamourous in their younger years. :-)
