Great Introduction, April 22, 2001

Duke Ellington's output was so massive, and so excellent, that starting an Ellington libary can be intimidating to the novice fan. This is a great place to begin. These tracks, recorded over five incredible years, show Ellington at one the many peaks in his career. Every track is a classic, and the diversity of the styles give a glimpse of how inventive this man was. It's a well-priced way to get a toe in the water, but be warned that you won't be able to stop here.

SOPHISTICATED LADY. . .one for the ages. A delight to hear it played
by Duke Ellington. As music it is marvelous! With lyrics, it is a
fabulous standard which can be enjoyed, endlessly! Mr. Ellington provides a superb range of major and minor keys and chords that enhance the music as well as the lyrics the listener plays in his/her head.
