Book Description

November 17, 2009 Zane Presents
A graphically sensual tale blending the paranormal with breathtaking suspense.

Jennifer Darnell accepts a nanny position for one of the most powerful political couples in Philadelphia. The little boy she's hired to care for has been diagnosed as autistic but his sinister behavior has Jen suspecting that the child is in cahoots with the devil.

After sighting a naked woman running across a bridge in broad daylight, Jen is convinced she's losing her mind. But when she bumps into a gorgeous police officer who admits to seeing the woman, too, Jen is moderately comforted. While she and the hot-looking cop attempt to unravel the mystery, sparks fly between them, and a steamy love affair begins.

Meanwhile, Eris, the fallen goddess from The Enchantress has been languishing on the Dark Realm. Yearning for revenge against the Stovall family, she escapes her hellish holding place.

Now back with a vengeance, Eris is on the prowl for sex and blood. Using her powers of deception and intoxicating sexual deviancy, she easily bends the will of both men and woman. But when she sets her sights on Jen's man, the young nanny fights back...but can she win?

Though merely a child, Kali Stovall is at the top of Eris's hit list. Eris's reign of sexual terror and dominion seems unstoppable unless someone or something equally powerful comes forward to challenge her. Can this child and the other innocent victims be rescued from Eris's depraved rampage?

5.0 out of 5 stars Allison has done it again!!!, November 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Sorceress: A Novel (Zane Presents) (Paperback)
Allison Hobbs had truly outdone herself with "The Sorceress". This book was outrageous, wild, crazy, unbelievable and a total page turner!! If I could give it more than 5 stars I'd give it 10!! This book was GREAT and I found myself laughing out loud several times while reading it! Allison has a wild imagination and writes a story like no other!! This book was a refreshing change from the books I normally read. Thank you Allison for taking a risk and going against what is normal. Normal is boring!!

Jen is a young woman that accepts a nanny job for the powerful political couple Senator Daniel Provost and his wife, Catherine, possible future vice president. Jen is in charge of Ethan Provost, the large headed, silent, strange, autistic and overalll creepy son of the Provost's. Jen struggles with the odd little Ethan and often desires to quit her job, especially when Ethan has an "episode". Jen must remain employed with the Provost's because she has been kicked out of Temple University and is hiding that from her parents.Jen hopes to gain a job as the Senator's assistant. Jen spends her days with eerie Ethan, assisting him to the potty and watching him surf the internet for pictures of bridges, in between freakish 'episodes' of wheezing!! How dreadful! Jen and the rest of the Provost's staff, knows that Ethan is no ordinary little boy.

Meanwhile, Eris "goddess of destruction" is plotting her escape from the Dark Realm, where she has once again been banished. Eris can't wait to escape and get her "trinkets" from the Stovall "spawn" Kali, in Roanake, Virgina. Eris is relying on hlp from her old buddy Xavier, who has taken human form as a child (Ethan); and her sister Goddess of Compassion Tara, in the goddess realm. Eris hopes one of them will be able to free her from the Dark Realm. Eris wants revenge on the Stovall's, Tara & her winged lover Zeta, and Xavier for playing games with those darn bridges!

Jen knows she is really starting to lose it when she sees a naked ghost lady running around on a bridge, (the same ghost lady appeared on Ethan's computer!!) during a jog. Only an extremely hot cop, Rome, bumps into Jen while patrolling the area, and he too has seen the naked ghost lady!! Something strange is going on...and it only gets stranger!!

Jen and Rome soon find themselves in a freaky, out of this world three ring circus starring a naked ghost lady, a demon child and a snarling, drooling beast!!

4.0 out of 5 stars I'll stay right here in Earth Realm thank you very much., April 11, 2010
This review is from: The Sorceress: A Novel (Zane Presents) (Paperback)
Well now... this was an interesting read from Allison. If you are not into sorcery, dark realms, winged creatures, goddesses, and things of that nature; then you probably won't enjoy this book. `The Sorceress' still has the aberrant sexuality, the insane storyline, the grime, and the "meanness" that I've come to love from Allison. But if you aren't into the black magic genre then this book will be challenge to finish. I finished it and I can't stand the evil, black magic stuff. I can, however, stand one of my favorite author's and her work. But for the life of me I can't figure out how she comes up with characters that are so incredibly evil and... MEAN! And so stupid. Eris was... a mess. The things she does in the Dark Realms will literally turn your stomach! The things she does and allows others to do in the Earth Realm will almost force you stop reading for a minute because you can't imagine ANYTHING so detached from evil. I know I keep using the word `evil' but that's because I can't think of anything else to put in its place.

And since we love to put labels on everything; IE: Zane is the queen of erotica, Stephen King is the master of horror, Paris Hilton is the duchess of skank, Kendra is the sultan of stupid, Zoe Saldana the president of the "damn she's fine committee". Stuff like that. Well, Allison would have to be the Empress of Shock! You almost need a bib when you read her books because you read the freaking things with your mouth hanging open. This one is no different. There is one scene in this book that I CAN NOT get out of my head. Don't worry I'm not going to spoil it for you, just remember the name Boozer. What he does is so horrific that your body will cringe and try to hide within itself. And we get to witness his savagery. Twice.

This is Allison's usual non-stop, brutal, spectacular storytelling with a supernatural twist. I highly recommend that you read `The Enchantress first to get caught up with everything and to learn (somewhat) why Eris is so, so, so, so, so, mean and 100% evil. Stephen King wrote a book called `On Writing' a while back. In it he gave us background into the writing of some of his novels. An utterly fascinating read! I can only hope that one day Allison decides to do the same because I have to know what the hell is the inspiration behind some of these books. Heck, maybe I don't want to know. Maybe I don't want to hear about the pain, the hurt. I don't want to hear about the sad teenage years or painful childhood. I don't want to imagine the tears running down her check. Or her hiding in her closet when she hears certain voices. I don't... oh who am I kidding!?! Yeah I do!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fallen Goddess... (4.5 Stars), January 24, 2010
This review is from: The Sorceress: A Novel (Zane Presents) (Paperback)
Allison Hobbs is back with the exciting follow-up to The Enchantress. After being banished to the Dark Realm, a place that seems worse than hell, Eris "the Goddess of Destruction" is trying to find her ticket out. She is hell-bent on exacting revenge on those that have wronged her. The first thing Eris is determined to do is get back her precious jewels. She tries using trickery and deception on her sister, Tara "the Goddess of Compassion" with the hopes that Tara can talk to the council to free her from her confines. Xavier a.k.a. Ethan is only able to do so much since he is in the form of a human child.

Meanwhile on the other side, Ethan is a peculiar child. Seemingly autistic and a weird constant wheezing makes for a creepy child. Day in and day out, Ethan sits at his computer looking at bridges. Angry that he is stuck in the body of a child, Xavier is determined to find a way to free Eris from the Dark Realm, only for his own selfish reasons...to get revenge on his parents for past deeds done wrong in another life.

Then you have Jen, the live-in nanny. Jen is terrified of little Ethan and cannot understand why his parents don't see how strange he really is. Then again, maybe they do since neither one of them seem to stay home much. Jen wishes daily that she was able to quit her job. Unfortunately, she needs it more than she cares to admit. When she sees the "ghost lady" on the bridge, she knows that somehow she is connected to Ethan and his bridges.

The Sorceress by Allison Hobbs is a tale of the paranormal, laced with freaky sex scenes. This is a good vs. evil type of tale, one where you will wonder who will be the victor. Although it has been a few years since The Enchantress was released, Ms. Hobbs does an excellent job in bringing you back into the fold of the story and where it left off. The Sorceress was a page turner to say the least!
