5.0 out of 5 stars Serious snow boots
This are great boots - if you want really warm, really robust. I use them for snowmobiling at below 10degrees and for running my unheated bobcat to plow snow. Before this, my feet always froze. Now they're toasty warm. After a few times, they became easy to get on and off. I put my orthodics in them and that made them a better fit and more comfortable. I think I could...

2.0 out of 5 stars Too heavy duty for casual use
Bought these on line for the buckle fasteners as I thought they would be quicker and easier to put on and off than my existing lace ups.
Maybe they're good for serious expedition use but for nipping in and out they're worse than my lace ups - the structure of the boot is so heavy duty that they're a struggle to put on even with the buckles undone - and once buckled...

Maybe they're good for serious expedition use but for nipping in and out they're worse than my lace ups - the structure of the boot is so heavy duty that they're a struggle to put on even with the buckles undone - and once buckled you can't tension the straps as there's very little 'give' in the boot to allow tightening.
Walking in them was a little like wearing ski boots - tried them for a week and reverted to my lace ups.
They are definitely warm though - although for general use around a ski resort they were too warm, my feet got pretty hot in them.

I think I could actually do a decent hike in them, but of course they dont fit like a hiking boot. btw.. you can pull the straps tighter after putting them on, but it takes the right "angle" and some arm power. I think thats why they dont offer the buckles in a womens boot.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Boot for Winter Motor Sports., October 17, 2009
I noticed when I came on here to write this review that some people are trying to wear these just as a basic winter boot and that is simply not going to work, at least not very well. They are very stiff, almost like a cross between winter boots and ski boots. Yes they loosen up with time but even then they are not very comfortable to walk around in especially for long periods of time. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of boots out there that are far better designed for basic winter use. These boots are perfect for activities like snowmobiling.

These boots have a Molded EVA midsole for enhanced comfort, weight reduction and thermal protection. They have a removable 9mm Sorel ThermoPlus Xtreme InnerBoot. Thermoplus is a felt material which is extremely warm even in the coldest conditions. A built in gaitor with a barrel lock closure system keeps snow out and helps keep heat in. The boots have a fully seam sealed polar Lite shell which enhances flexibility. Some other details include a Shatter-resistant YKK Shokonloc buckle closure, Traction enhancing multi-directional rubber lug outsole, and Reflective safety graphics.

The bottom line is that this is not your average pair of winter boots and people who are looking for a casual pair of winter boots should really go elsewhere. Again there are literally hundreds of other boots that will work much much better if your just looking for a casual pair of boots. In other words if your looking for a pair of boots to go sledding in or a pair of boots to go to the mall in or a pair of boots to walk around town in then trust me, go elsewhere. If your looking for a serious pair of snowmobiling boots or if you work long hours outdoors during winter then you should definitely give these boots a look. They are built like a tank and keep your feet extremely warm.

5 Stars!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome for Ice fishing!, January 12, 2011

Very warm and durable. I use it for ice fishing and I can't find anything bad to write about this product. First time they were a bit stiff. But these aren't the boots to take on a trail. Last weekend walked few miles through a snow storm in a foot of snow. It was very comfortable walk. And did I say warm!!!
Love them!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Alpha Trac Buckle Boot is the best pair of Winter Boots I have owned, January 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sorel Men's Alpha Trac Buckle Boot (Apparel)
I have only worn these boots 3 times while out ice fishing and they have really done the trick. I have never been ice fishing in the past where my feet didn't get a little bit cold or worse and my feet stay nice and warm with these on. The only small complaint I have about them is that it is hard to get them to feel snug on your foot with just the buckles. You can seem to cinch them down as far as possible and they feel a little too loose to me still. They will be fine for ice fishing or walking short distances in the snow but I wouldn't want to try and snowshoe with them due to the loose feel. I have tried to continually cinch the buckles tighter but to no avail. Otherwise they are great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great boots, December 26, 2009

Got these for snowmobiling and they work great. After postholing through knee and thigh deep powder to dig my nephew out all day (a dozen times or so), I can say that these boots kept me warm, dry, and comfortable. Easy on, easy off and good traction as well. Buckles (instead of hooks like on many winter boots) ensure you don't tear up your seat while your throwing around your sled. Sizing was right on as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Snow Boot Ever, December 25, 2008
These are great snow boots peroid. I am able to grab the double finger loop on the liner, slip on and go. It takes a couple of times to get the hang of it as you need to stick your toes in and grab the double liner tab-if you step in first the liner is compressed and its much more work to get them on. I have owned approx 10 pairs of snow boots and these are clearly the best ever. j

5.0 out of 5 stars Sorel Alpha Trac Great for Snomobiling and other cold weather, January 15, 2012
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Have ridden in these boots 7 times so far this season and they work great. There were lots of comments on how stiff these are but for snowmobiling and working in the snow they are great. Once I learned the routine for getting them on and off it's not to bad. Only have had to separate boot and liner after every other ride and still not very wet, more damp from sweat than snow. Wasn't sure if the buckles would keep them tight enough but seems to be working fine so far. Only complaint is that I didn't buy three pairs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking for an EXCELLENT pair of boots? Here they are!, January 1, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you're looking for a pair of boots that will get you through many winters? Here they are. I've worn these in the middle of Alaska in the heart of a -30F blizzard and my feet were still warm and comfortable. They may look like space boots--but that's because they probably would protect you in space--they don't say that in the specs, of course, but if I were headed out of a space hatch, I'd definitely put them on first given the opportunity. These are heavy-duty boots. I don't climb mountains, but if I knew about climbing mountains, I'd probably say to bring these boots. If you're looking for an excellent pair of boots that will absolutely keep your feet warm, here they are. Stop surfing around, aimlessly procrastinating and just buy them. Your warm toes will thank you as your lifeless frozen torso floats through space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super warm motorsport boot!, September 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Sorel Alpha Trac Buckle Boot is an extremely well made boot for motorsport use. I snowmobile and these are perfect for me and in fact the best boot I have owned for this use. I wear a 14 and bought a 15 to have room so my feet would not get cold and also to allow extra room for wool socks, as my feet perspire a lot. This is a bad combination for cold weather, my feet have always been nearly impossible to keep warm, especially my right foot which I have broken before and may not have the best circulation. Out of the last 7 pairs of snowmobile boots I have bought in the past 5 years to try and keep my feet warm, I like these the best. Only two pairs of all these boots actually keep my feet warm, these and my sz15 Baffins. But these are smaller in the toe area and fit my foot pockets better and are safer for riding. Other large size boots I've had are so big in the toe that I can barely fit them in the foot wells and are tough to slip in and out while riding for maneuverability. I would not rate these as a good choice for a lot of walking, but they are easy to get on and off for me and the draw closure at the top is great for keeping snow out. I love the fact that they keep my feet warm warm warm and I like that the liners slip out to dry overnight. Five stars on these!
