3.0 out of 5 stars Great look, lousy fleece
The slipper looks great, is very comfortable, fits to size and seems that it will be very durable on the outside, however, the fleece on the inside is lousy. I have had the slippers for one month and the fleece by the heel is completely gone on one slipper and wearing fast on the other. The Sorel Falcon Ridge slippers are wonderful for wearing around the house. I work from home, and so I wear these slippers all day. One of the major problems with most slippers is that they make your feet sweat, and then they begin to smell. No one wants sweaty-smelling slippers. The Sorels solve this problem by allowing you to remove the slipper footbed so that you can wash it. The outsole is sturdy enough for outdoor use, but I like to reserve my slippers for indoor use only.

The slippers run pretty true to size; I wear a size 13 sneaker and purchased the slippers in a size 13. Since purchasing these slippers, my feet have been warm and cushy. The only slipper that truly eclipses the Sorels are the UGG slippers for men, which are an orgasm for your feet. However, the UGGs are double the price of the Sorels, but are the epitome of slipper comfort. Overall, I am very happy with the Sorels and would recommend them to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Cozy, December 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Not being a backless shoe person, I was skeptical that I would like a "semi-mule" style slipper, but I have be pleasantly surprised that they stay on my feet so well. The slight lip at the back seems to do the job. They are significantly warmer than the slippers I replaced, which is to say very, very warm. No cold toes when I have these on. My only slight dissatisfaction, and it is very slight, is that these slippers seem excessively wide. I have D-E width feet and these flop around rather a lot when I'm walking unless I wear two pairs of heavy-ish socks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfort & Flexibility, January 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great slipper. The padding is more than adequate and the feel of the construction is very durable without being stiff. The sole of the slipper is tough enough to wear outdoors, even if the weather is a bit damp. I've owned other slippers in the past with a hard sole for outdoor use and they are generally much more stiff than this Sorel. Overall it is comfortable, warm, and will last. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a good multi-use slipper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great work shoes...if you telecommute!, November 8, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm a full-time telecommuting computer professional and live in Alaska, so these slippers are my work shoes. Here in Alaska, we don't wear shoes in the house (just like most of the rest of the world outside of the lower-48). I wear these about ten hours a day.

Out of the box it was obvious these are well-made. The stitching is multi-strand heavy thread, and the sole quite thick. I work east coast hours, so my work day starts at 3:45 a.m. My initial concern was with the clog-style and heavy sole, these would cause a lot of noise on the hardwood floor in the kitchen while making my trips to the coffee pot. No worries there. These soles are thick, but quiet and flexible. The foot bed (inner sole) on these is removable and over 1/4" thick. Put this slipper next to what you have now, and you'll see an big difference in material and build quality. Not many slippers on the market are like these.

I'll admit to being disappointed when I first tried them on. The fit was spot on (I wear a U.S. 13), but they just didn't hit my arch right. It felt to me like the arch was placed too far back. Like most shoes, I wore them an hour or so a day and eventually they did break in to where they are extremely comfortable. I'm not sure what all the layers are made of, but these broke in very much like the two types of cork-soled footwear I own, Birkenstock sandals and Xtra Tuf boots.

Speaking of the fit, these do not slip off my heel when walking, a concern of some who may be considering a purchase. Your fit will determine how well they do for you, but for me they stay put.

I'd say for the money and the quality, it would be tough to beat this deal. They're a big notch up from anything you'll find in the box stores, and well worth the extra bucks you'll spend. I'll post a follow up review in a few months and let you know how they are holding up. I suspect it will be another positive review!

[Update 4 months later....]

Well, it's been over four months now, and these have been on my feet ever day. You could say when it comes to slippers, I'm a POWER user. :) Anyhow...no wear outside of what any NORMAL person would expect. Slight wearing of the sole at the heel, but nothing above normal for this sole material. I expect the sole to be there for quite a while, but I'll report it if I have any blowouts.

Let me address two of the very few complaints I've seen about these slippers:

First, some folks say these are tight. To the high-quality slipper neophyte the materials and construction may cause the wearer to first feel these are small. Like any quality shoe these need time to fit your foot. Think of the first time you've ever worn a Birkenstock sandal. The leather will soften around your foot over time, and the insole will contour to your foot and arch. If you purchase these and don't like the fit, give these a good chance to break in before you send them back. Before you know it, they'll fit like an old shoe. Hmmm...I guess that's where that saying came from!

Second, some folks were complaining about the inner-sole wearing prematurely. I haven't seen that at all, and I weight about 240 pounds and these are on my feet about 14 hours a day. If I can't wear them out, I doubt you will. Sure, I'm at my computer a lot, but between the coffee and bathroom breaks (a horribly vicious cycle) I think I still do a good job of stressing these.

One other thing I haven't researched yet is whether Sorel sells a replacement insole for these. It's a good idea to buy insoles before you need them and the product is still marketed, as footwear manufacturers are quick to replace their product lines.

To sum it up - these slippers are somewhere between the box store specials for $20 that will wear out in six months, and the brand you can't pronounce for $250 that you've never heard of but feel all the "elites" probably have on their feet. Those high-brow slippers are priced somewhere between "Ain't no way!" and "You gotta be kiddin' me!", and are likely no more comfortable and will last no longer than these.

Well, that's all for my review of the Sorel Falcon Ridge Falcon Ridge Winter Slipper (a.k.a. Telecommuter Work Shoe). Overall, I'd buy these again in a heartbeat.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great look, lousy fleece, October 28, 2011

The slipper looks great, is very comfortable, fits to size and seems that it will be very durable on the outside, however, the fleece on the inside is lousy. I have had the slippers for one month and the fleece by the heel is completely gone on one slipper and wearing fast on the other. I had a pair of "wicked good slippers" that were leather exterior and wool inside that I gave up after about 9 years. At this rate these Sorel's may be a disappointment. For the money I still like them, I just wish that the interior fleece was more durable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sole & Upper durable. Lining almost gone 6 weeks. Consider getting them a size smaller than usual., January 16, 2010

Update January 09, 2011:

I've upgraded the review from 3 stars to 4. These moccasin like slippers actually lasted for a year of daily wearing (probably 5+ hours per day. The lining did continue to disintegrate until just plastic was exposed on the heel. The outers still looked new and the sole had at least another 4 to 6 months of wear left.

Being a moccasin, I should have bought them at one size smaller than I normally wear because there was about an inch of space between my heel and the heel of the slipper after two months of wear even though they fit snuggly on first day.

I actually got a new pair one size smaller (went from 13 to 12) in December 2010. After one day of snug break-in, they fit nicely. After three weeks, they feel like a slipper should: a little on the loose side but not sloppy. The faux fleece is still deteriorating, but not as fast as with the first pair. I estimate that it will take 6 weeks to get to same point shown in the 3-week photos for the first pair.

Bottom line: Recommended.

Original January 16, 2010 review:

I liked the idea of just jamming my foot into this slipper to put it on. I can have my arms full and still slip these on.

The soles are waterproof, but not high enough for puddled water. Wet ground or sidewalks are no problem. These seem to run a little large. I got them for Christmas via Amazon wish-list. The faux-fleece lining on my pair disintegrated in just three weeks. Check the photo that I uploaded.

Beautiful slipper. Very comfortable. However..after about 6 months of wear the inner insulation is wearing out in the heel. A bit too expensive a slipper not to last 1 year!

These slippers felt like I had them for a long time, they were so comfortable. They are great for going to the mail box and taking out the trash, which I find convenient, I don't have to put my shoes on.

I bought these for my son who asked for a good pair of slippers that he can also wear to get the mail, run to the store if he's really lazy, etc. and he loves them. They are high quality, warm and very nice looking and he couldn't be happier. Next time I'll try a pair for myself!

3.0 out of 5 stars These are super comfy.. but beware.. they do wear out fast, March 29, 2011

Several other reviews I found online shared the same thoughts for the most part. They are extremely comfy slippers though.. Extra wide and require no hands to slip on and off. The only problem is, I've had them for maybe 5 months, and probably wear them about 10 hours per week roughly, and the heels are already loosing all their inner stuffing stuff. They have just about worn down to the seams. That said, they are still extremely comfy and I'll continue wearing them til, well, I just can't anymore. Until I find another pair I like more, I'll probably buy another pair again
