1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid
I loved these boots for the first season I owned them. Used for deep snow, ice fishing, snowmobiling they held up great and kept my feet warm and dry. Day one of season two I pulled them out of the closet to find that on one of the boots ALL of the buckles had corroded so badly that they fell off the boot when I tied them up. I called the company (now owned by Columbia...

I have bought so many snow boots over the past few years since my feet get cold easily.I have tried at least 5 different name brands and in various sizes but yet my feet still get cold.

I must say these Sorel Glacier boots are definitely heavy duty for extreme temperatures. However these boots did keep my feet warmer than all other boots but my feet still got a bit cold.I do not blame this on the boots.I must have a bad circulation problem with my feet.

These boots are very comfortable and i had a lot of room for my toes to move around.Easy to tie the laces and they have a quick lock system at the very top of the boots that you can draw tight around your leg. They are constructed well and easy to slip on.However there are a couple of factors that need to be addressed before buying these boots.First off since they are heavy duty they are HEAVIER than most boots.Second of all these boots are pretty tall.Tall enough that they cover almost your entire calf on you leg.I found this to be a problem since my coveralls barley zipped over top of the boots.Thirdly the boots are a pain to take off since they are so tall.

Conclusion--These boots are very well made and extremely comfortable. They are heavy but this should be expected since the boots claim to be good for up to -100F.They may not fit under a zipped coverall pant leg and they are a pain to take off. However the padding is so thick in these things that im sure others will find them to be warmer than any other boot on the market. These boots are probably good for ice fishing or other activities that dont require a bunch of movement since walking long distances in them may be a problem.I only give 4 stars just because of the sheer girth of the boots and the weight but other than that they are very good quality and better insulated than any other boot ive seen or had.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the Best, But..., December 21, 2009
This review is from: Sorel Men's Glacier Boot (Apparel)
We have owned a pair of these boots for, probably, well over 20 years, as has the rest of my family. If you want warmth in real cold--these are just the BEST!!! Great for ice fishing, snow camping, snowmobiling, hunting, outdoor events which don't require great exertion (ie: lots of standing around, such as, at youth events), extreme cold, emergencies, etc. I have chronically cold feet, but not in these! Tried a new pair on recently, except for being made in China now, seem pretty much the same as mine. Fit was a tad smaller, so might need a bigger size than in the past (We noticed this sizing issue with all Sorels made in China. We wish they were still made in Canada.). The only downside, which is to be expected, is that they are on the heavy-side. But, since they would be too warm to wear every day, even in the north country, that's not much of a problem to us. We love these boots and would always want to keep a pair around for extreme cold conditions! My whole family agrees!

I upgraded to these recently when my wife "acquired" my 25 year old Sorel Snowcats, which still function perfectly to this day. Not surprisingly, these newer boots are now the top dog on my list of serious cold weather boots. The weather in Alaska this year is the coldest it's been in 10 years and I can go out with absolutely no worries about the conditions. I do have to say that these Glacier boots are a bit bulkier than my Sorels of old but that's to be expected with a -100F rating, so no big deal. If you want a warm cold weather boot that'll hold up to just about anything you throw at them (short of the Expedition series), these are the boots to buy.

These realy keep my feet warm wile snow blowing. I live in North East Maine and needed protection from minus 0 temps. These Sorel Glacier Boots keep my feet warm and dry. I think they will be great for Ice Fishing and Snow Sleding trips to!
These boots have a no nonsense on and off system. The pull straps are large to fit male fingers. The closer at the top is a quick one pull affair and the ankle ties easy to loosen for on and off.

I purchased these boots for my husband during an excrutiatingly long and cold Minnesota winter. They are huge and run a little large, actually which is great for extra thick socks. He loves them and always comments that when he comes inside from snowblowing or shoveling, he may be cold, but his feet and calves are toasty warm and dry. He does have quite a few friends who are envious of his boots, too. We definitely recommend!

just got them -

++ very warm

++ less heavy than I thought - though don't imagine light

++ Levis 527's fit OVER boot

++ comfortable and very good build quality (time will tell if they last)

NOTE that I always wear a 9.5 or even a 10 (sandals) and I bought these in a 9 and they fit PERFECTLY (with no or thin socks).

There really isn't a better cold weather boot out there- You'll be plenty comfortable wearing this in even the coldest places on earth. It's a little much for southern california, but when I go ice fishing in Montana again, or back up to spend another winter in the alaskan arctic, these will be on my feet.

I got these boots for my husband as a Christmas gift. He loves them. Although they are a bit on the heavy side, not meant for hiking or walking long distances, they kept him dry and warm. I would highly recommend these boots. Buy a 1/2 size smaller. They run a little on the bigger size.

My last pair of Sorels were toast after about 15 years so it was time to upgrade. These ones are almost over kill for most cold snow days but are very very nice when I do slip them on.
