4.0 out of 5 stars Lives up to the Sorel legend...
I am pleasantly surprised with this purchase, since the other reviews here were lack-luster. As I'm writing this review, I see that Amazon has sold-out of this model in some sizes, but I expect that much of this review might apply to similar styles from Sorel.

These are sturdy, well-constructed boots, and heavy as a result. I won't be jogging in them, but they...

1.0 out of 5 stars Zipper doesn't stay zipped
I live in the mountains of Colorado where it snows almost daily. I was hopeful these boots would be a convenient alternative to a mud room full of lace up boots. I had hoped they would simply slip on whenever I need to shovel/blow snow. They certainly seemed warm enough. But right out of the box, the zipper would not stay zipped, so they fill with snow, don't fit right,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Zipper doesn't stay zipped, January 12, 2009

I live in the mountains of Colorado where it snows almost daily. I was hopeful these boots would be a convenient alternative to a mud room full of lace up boots. I had hoped they would simply slip on whenever I need to shovel/blow snow. They certainly seemed warm enough. But right out of the box, the zipper would not stay zipped, so they fill with snow, don't fit right, eg too loose due to zipper. Unless you are lucky enough to find a pair that stay zipped, I'd stay away from these boots.

2.0 out of 5 stars Could be better, December 22, 2008

Unfortunately, the zipper on these boots falls down when you walk - a major downfall obviously. Overall the general appearance and warmth are good, but with a zipper that does not stay up while walking, I would NOT RECOMMEND this boot!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lives up to the Sorel legend..., October 14, 2011

I am pleasantly surprised with this purchase, since the other reviews here were lack-luster. As I'm writing this review, I see that Amazon has sold-out of this model in some sizes, but I expect that much of this review might apply to similar styles from Sorel.

These are sturdy, well-constructed boots, and heavy as a result. I won't be jogging in them, but they should stand-up well thru the many snow-removal adventures I'm expecting in the coming winter. They seem true-to-size when worn over winter weight socks and thick interior cushioning keeps them comfortably snug around my ankles. Traction in snow will certainly be aided by the deep cleats, while the grippy rubber on the soles should provide some ice-bite as well. Thinsulate insulation seems to allow the boot to less-bulky than the Sorels of old, which had a removable inner felt liner. (This is a plus for anyone intending to drive while wearing them. They claim a comfort rating to minus 25 degrees F., but I'll be inside, watching from the window, if it ever gets that cold 'round here!

I've been wearing the boots around the house for several hours, without experiencing the zipper problem reported by some other reviewers. My pair have YKK-brand zippers which seem to lock securely when fully closed and the pull tab is then rotated down flat against the zipper, For others experiencing the zipper-opening problem, adding an elastic or velcro strap around the top might keep the zipper from gradually re-opening.

I will post an additional comment in a few months, when I can say how these boots have performed in actual winter conditions...

2.0 out of 5 stars not great, May 15, 2010

This review is from: Sorel Men's Cold Mountain Zip Boot (Apparel)
After wearing these zippers on boots is a bad idea. Boots don't get tight enough and theres nothing you can do about it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor zipper construction, December 29, 2010

Nice looking boot, comfortable, keeps feet warm, however the zipper will not stay up on either boot. Returned, will not try another pair.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sorel Boot, March 9, 2011

This boot is excellent for times when you want good insulation from the cold but need the convenience of easily romoving the footwear. You may want to add a support insole for greater comfort.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfort over style, March 15, 2010

I think this product is a great buy. Comfortable, yet affordable. However, they definitely don't make the best "fashion statement" but they do their job.

1.0 out of 5 stars Leaky Boots, January 28, 2009
I used these boots for three weeks, and there wasn't a time when my toes didn't get wet (I assume the leak was at the junction of the rubber bottom and suede upper) and the zipper on one foot kept coming down.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT GOOD, January 21, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I should have listened to the previous reviews on this. As soon as my husband put them on and walked inside the house, the zippers on both feet came down. I immediately returned them and ordered him basically the same pair but they were lace ups. So I would suggest do not buy them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Awesome boots, except for the zipper, December 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The zipper is not a locking type, and will fall down very easily. It makes the boots nearly useless.

They are totally awesome when zipped up, but the zipper issue really is critical.
