Buyer beware: Amazon bait-and-switch
on November 13, 2012
I bought these cute boots as a gift. The pattern featured in the photo and listed on my purchase was not the snowflake pattern, but the more "tribal inspired" print. It was unique and adorable, and was specifically chosen by my niece. I paid extra for expedited shipping because I needed the boots in time for her birthday party that weekend.
I sure did receive the boots on time, but they were completely different than what I'd ordered. They had little snowflakes all over them. Cute, but not what I specifically ordered, and not something I would have ordered.
I reached out to Amazon for assistance and got nowhere. They told me to send them back and buy another pair at a higher price, and refused to make any adjustment to let me pay what I'd originally paid! Then they told me to buy my niece an Amazon giftcard and tell her to buy them herself ... Which made absolutely no sense considering that Amazon had just shown they could care less about the money I'd already spent, and couldn't promise that she would even find the specific boots she asked for.
Needless to say, I was really disappointed, and so was my niece. I had to scramble to find her something else for her birthday party, and Amazon couldn't have cared less! I also sent a follow-up feedback form, and it's been almost two weeks with no response.
The boots themselves are fine, but the sizing is off. I ordered a 9, and they were bigger than expected. Other Sorels I've bought are more true to size.
I would recommend Sorels, but never from Amazon. In fact, based on the lack of response and follow-up I've gotten, I wouldn't recommend ever purchasing anything from Amazon. If you do, just make sure it's not something you actually care about receiving.
