Fit is true to size, I wear a size 6 which is what I ordered.

If I had three wishes for this boot though, they would be 1) more lacing, closer together- seems like the distance between the laces causes some gaps to occur.

I bought a 9.5 which fits perfectly with room for heavier sock if needed as well.

I am a size 5.5 and I ordered a size 6 from another site. I have read lots of negative reviews when it comes to size and sagging. I own several boots that lace up; mostly cute winter wedge boots. Most negative reviews are from "sagging" problems. I am 5'1 and have tiny calves and foot & ankle stability problems; so, I am always looking for adjustable tall boots. There is a small sag between ring 2 and 3 after wearing for 3 hours (up and down chasing a toddler) but it does not take away from the look or comfort/stability of the boot. Another negative I hear a lot about Sorel boots in general is that you have to order a size down. I have 2 different kind now from Sorel, and a friend has another. We live in Colorado, so maybe that makes a difference: Maybe others wear thin socks? But, I have a 5.5 and a size 6 now, and they are very true to size for me and my friend. The bottoms of these boots are amazing for gripping! My only negative would be that I did not find a 5.5 and my feet are on the narrow side, but a size 6 fits me perfectly in the width and are just a tad bit longer in the toe area. This is not a real problem and I am currently wearing normal white Hans long socks and I can see these fitting even better with my winter thick socks.

I don't know what Sorel was thinking when they named this boot the Joan of Arctic Wedge. Sorel's classic Joan of Arctic boots are very warm boots made for very cold conditions and all kinds of winter weather. The Joan of Arctic Wedge couldn't be more different. First of all, they're unlined. That's right, just leather, no cosy insulating materials, so they're unsuitable for very cold weather. Second, the tongue doesn't attach to the boot except at the very bottom, meaning there is a constant risk of the tongue sliding to the side and letting in cold air (or worse). Don't get me wrong, it's a great looking boot and will be nice for late autumn/early winter, but if you're expecting a sleeker, high-heel version of the classic Joan of Arctic, this isn't it.
The boots fit true-to-size, and the wedge heel is comfortable. The sole looks grippy and suitable for walking in the snow, but I won't be able to test that out for several more months. Other reviewers have commented on the tongue and lacing system being droopy, and I agree that it seems like the design is not as good as it could be. I think with thick socks and a pair of jeans tucked in the tongue will probably stay in place most of the time as long as I pull the laces fairly tight. I got a great deal on these boots and am going to keep them despite my concerns, but if I had paid full price for them I would return them. For $250+, the tongue and lacing design would have to be greatly improved to make the boots less floppy and more weatherproof. I'd also like to see some kind of insulation added to make these true winter boots. As they are, I'll be wearing them on dry, cold days, but will still consider my fabulous Cate the Greats to be my true winter boots. (I realize that "winter" means different things to different people, so just so you know, I live in Ottawa, Canada, where we get lots of snow, lots of very cold weather, and lots of nasty slush).

these are in a few mail order catalogs right now and when I first saw them I knew instantly I wanted them . well worth the splurge in that they have the edgyness I like. nice neutral brown color and not as thick leather to make them feel heavy. very happy i got them early and feel great wearing them.

Ordered these boots as work boots, work in a cold garage so I figured the boots would do the job but the leather is extremely thin and light weight. I'm a 6 1/2 and these seem to run slightly larger in size. I've worn them with thick socks and had to put in insoles for them to feel snug and I don't have narrow feet. These boots are more like fashion boots than anything else. They look nice but don't keep your feet warm at all. They are definitely not waterproof and not the really winter boots. The soles are great for traction, saved me from slipping in the ice a few times, that's about the best thing about them. Overall the price is too steep for these boots, I paid for the brand name and nothing much here. I wouldn't recommend them.
Also, beware of black mold forming inside the cavity that is the heel of the boots, if you get caught in the rain and water gets in there. It happened to mine.

Still awesome Sorel boots, but the tops are not quite as sturdy as I was expecting. Might not hold up as long as I was hoping. Still super cute and perfect for the snow!

Very comfortable and the style has funk too. What more could you ask for. Fit is true to size, I wear a size 6 which is what I ordered. No extra padding needed for now. Might need if I wear them a lot. Can't wait for colder weather!

This boot is great! It looks great, fits great and wears great. I read the reviews before I made my purchase and ordered a half-size down. I wear a 9 1/2, ordered a 9 and they fit perfectly. I wore mine an entire work day and didn't have to change my boots out for my flats like I usually do. Great boot and great buy.

First, I will admit I should have listened to all the other reviewers that said buy a size down. I was expecting to wear these with thick socks, and thought that would require some extra room, so I bought my normal size. Well, there's still more than enough room with the thickest socks imaginable. So listen up! Buy a half size down, at least.

The style of these boots is what I am not sure about. I thought they looked really cute on the models but then when I put them on, it had more of a rugged style than I am accustomed to wearing. And I do not like the black laces they provide on the brown boots. I almost sent them back, however, they are one of the most (if not the most) comfortable pairs of footwear that I've ever owned, so I decided to keep them, and buy brown laces. My husband said he liked them, too, so that was an extra push I needed to keep them.

If I had three wishes for this boot though, they would be 1) more lacing, closer together- seems like the distance between the laces causes some gaps to occur. 2) Wider tongue- I have thicker calves and the tongue just barely covers. I don't think it would have killed them to add 1/2 more leather towards the top. 3) Sturdier leather- you can't really tell this from the pictures, but they are very soft suede. I would have preferred something with a little more thickness that might have held shape better. You have to tie them very tightly if you don't want them to slouch.
