4.0 out of 5 stars Seventh, but not last
I love the Lois Meade Mysteries. The continuing characters are people you know, getting along the best they can with strengths and weaknesses, but mostly likeable. Running a cleaning service is a good way to find things out, and Lois Meade cooperates with Chief Inspector Cowgill to help him solve crimes. He has a crush on her, but these good people never let it go...

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but not one of her best
I thought the book was just okay. I do like the Ivy Beasley series better, as the stories seem more interesting to me, revolving around an assisted living facility, and seniors who are still sharp-minded and active.

He has a crush on her, but these good people never let it go farther than that. Now, Lois's husband, Derek, has won enough in the lottery that they have some security, but they aren't rich. They decided to invest in a rental property.

What this means to us, is that possibly Lois will have other households to investigate, since she can't expand her cleaning business, New Brooms, forever. A clue at the end of this book says the next Lois Meade Mystery will be called "Warning at One." Hooray!

Loved this series and the aging and progression of the characters. I am so sorrowful that there are only seven days in the week.

Just discovered these and have read them all (7 in series so far) and loved them!
Not rock 'em sock 'em murder stuff, but very entertaining, a little like a young "Ms. Marple", anyway, good stuff =:o)

I love this series. It has great characters and storyline. Lois is a wonderful main character and you fall in love with her and her family. Her relationship with all the other characters is well written and interesting. I love how she seems to get herself in the middle of so much strife. lol

2.0 out of 5 stars no real mystery, May 21, 2010
By
I had a hard time getting through this. Although the protagonists are likable enough, the villains were obvious right from the start. The only real mystery was why they were doing what they were doing. I guess it all made sense at the end, but all the endless asides about Lois, Derek, her mother, her daughter, the various maids and their families and the detective with the unexplained crush on Lois, didn't hold my interest. In fact, I found it hard to keep track of who was who and just kept checking the page numbers to see when it would all end. Perhaps starting with the last book didn't help, but based on what I read in this one, I'm not too eager to read the other six.
