Book Description

In 1981, Gia walks in on her boyfriend, Luther, doing the unthinkable. Years later they are not so happily married, and the demons they’ve hidden away come back to haunt them. Gia’s niece, Anita, and the couples daughter, Eve, both pay a grave price for the sins of their past. Although Gia tries her best to keep the family together, fate will rob them of any chance at redemption. This Oedipal tale of a 20th Century family illustrates the love and the pain that are benchmarks of family secrets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Read August 30, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book was a easy read, very informative, touched on a lot of subjects that the African American culture doesn't discuss. I don't want to give anything away but it's topics are such that men and women need to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The things you do in the dark........... August 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I feel that this book was so powerful and thought provoking that it almost scared me.I got it for free and was pleased that I did. Please read this book if you have or know about incest, displaced family members, or the beginning stages of Alzheimers. this author put everything into this book where you wouldn't be lost and feel as though it ran all over the place. It shows love, fear, and redemtion. Also, be very careful of what you do in the dark because it will show sooner or later in the light.

A touching tale of all the things that can destroy a family and cause a lifetime of hurt and regret. But wait. Just when you think there's no hope, a little light shines at the end of the tunnel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Living A Lie April 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book took me on a journey into the lives of three very strong women who have all endured so much pain and loss you wonder how they made it through. Gia's love for her family, often blind, is never unwavering but the secrets she holds on to have very real consequences for her daughter and her niece. I loved how the author took you back through their journey to help you better understand their present. The pain and abuse they suffered seemed so real you just wanted to step in and help in any way you can. This book is well written and full of real life experiences. It was a great read and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost In Another's Sorrow April 3, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book. Lowan Anderson writing style is wonderful. This story makes you want to climb into the book and do something about the situation. I cannot say too much, because I can not give away such a beautifully written story, but be prepared to cry. All I can say is I NEED MORE!!! I felt like I was pulled into this family. Some scenes written in graphic details. But I felt it was needed to illustrate the gravity of the situation. I just wanted to help. I need to do something. It felt so real. Ms. Anderson, Job WELL Done. You just make sure I know when part 2 is available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!! February 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sorrow's Mate was a very heart wrenching story. The story flowed and I felt the pain of each woman in this book. Gia was a woman with more than her share of sorrow and secrets. I definitely enjoyed this book, never knowing what to expect, but never disappointed.
