In the Current of the Epics,
By D. MacEwan (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Sorrows Of Young Apollo (Audio CD)
In this CD, Point of Ares demonstrates the depth of their insight into Greek Mythology and Hellenism. The lyrics and the flowing rhythms of "Sorrows of Young Apollo" bring to mind the power behind such historical prizes as the Orphic Hymns and the Heroic Epics. Point of Ares' music speaks to the soul on the subconscious, artistic levels and communicates this power to the attentive listener. It shows the Darkness inherent in the Light, and vice versa. By far the most compelling attribute of this CD is the connection made between the Dionysian and Apollonian branches of worship, and how the qualities of each are but two sides of the same coin. The songs are both thoughtful and thought-provoking. Anyone with any interest in the Graeco-Roman current would benefit from "The Sorrows of Young Apollo."
