5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing To Be Sorry For!, January 26, 2010
This review is from: Sorry For Partyin (Audio CD)
Bowling For Soup have nothing to apologize for. If anything, they have lots to brag about. I have enjoyed their music since I first heard them 10 years ago. They began as a local band in the Dallas/Fort Worth "Metroplex" where I grew up, and they managed to pry open ClearChannel's iron fist and get some local radio airplay, and rose to great heights from there. They fill a major void in today's music landscape: decent musicianship, brilliant songwriting, pleasant melodies and a sense of humor rolled into one. They seem to get even better with each album they release, and "Sorry For Partyin' is no exception. "No Hablo Ingles" is a hilarious tune about using a simple Spanish phrase to avoid responsibility and controversy, and "My Wena" is a tongue-in-cheek tune about the male genitalia. But then they deliver "I Gotchoo", which is a brilliant pop song that blends in a little bit of rap and metal in a creative way, and almost echoes the cult classic "so bad it's good" pop tune "Summer Girls" by short-lived boy-band LFO."Hooray For Beer" is exactly what it sounds like. "Me With No You" and "I Don't Wish You Were Dead Anymore" take things to a more serious level (These guys clearly know what troubled relationships are all about). "I Can't stand L.A." is a nice shout-out to their roots (there's one on just about all of their albums). "America (Wake Up Amy)" is one of their more ambitious songs lyrically, personifying the country as a girl...and has a similar concept to some of Green Day's recent, political tunes without resorting to Billie Joe Armstrong's bitterness and hatred. A bonus track called "Belgium Polka" features a remake of the same untitled acoustic bonus track song included on the earlier album "Drunk Enough To Dance", transformed into a weird blend of polka and punk by Denton, TX band Brave Combo. Bowling For Soup only want to entertain and connect with their audience in a personal way, and make them happy. This album succeeds on all counts. If you ever get the chance to see them live, which was my privilege in 2007, don't hesitate. These guys are the real deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars More of the same; in the best way possible, July 22, 2010

I completely agree with the other reviewers that say this is right along the typical, established Bowling for Soup path... But somehow they manage to keep it fresh at the same time. This album is quirky and strange - in typical BFS fashion.

If you're a fan, you need this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Typical BFS, April 9, 2010
This review is from: Sorry For Partyin (Audio CD)
Short, sweet and to the point...

BFS has a formula that works great for them and they stick with it on their new album. They're getting older, but don't act it. I LOVE it! If you're a fan of BFS, or have enjoyed any of their previous work you should get a kick out of this as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome album, April 8, 2010

This review is from: Sorry For Partyin' (MP3 Download)
Ever since I heard 1985, I've been patiently waiting to see if BFS could follow up on such a great hit--and guess what, they did! All of these songs are high energy and fun to listen to. My Wena was a little too raunchy for my tastes, but really funny nevertheless. This is one of those few albums where you could listen to while working out without having to skip through tracks. My BFFF is of course my absolute favorite, and A Really Cool Dance Song. No Hablo Ingles is the most hilarious, but they're all good songs

5.0 out of 5 stars Goes down smooth!, March 24, 2010

If I were clever like Jaret, my review of "Sorry for Partyin" would sound much like a beer ad. This cd is a fresh, cold bottle of your favorite brew on a hot summer day that you will enjoy over & over again. It makes life better, it doesn't cost much and will possibly get you laid.

Seriously, this cd ranks up there with "Hangover..." as the best BFS album ever. I bought 4 or 5 new cd's and this one just won't leave my cd player. I think we should invent a new genre for BFS called "Clever Rock" and they are the KINGS of it!

You always get your money's worth from BFS (and then some). Hooray for BFS and BFS goes Boom!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Boys are Back in Town, February 6, 2010

I love Bowling for Soup, but I do have a small beef with this album: after listening to it a dozen or so times, I realized there are some fun, great songs, and then there are some meh songs that seem more like an afterthought. BUT, No Hablo Ingles and a few others make it worth getting. Absolutely recommended.

The boys for BFS continually raise the bar for quality with each new release. This album once again features all the cultural, comical and socially satirical views that we have come to expect from BFS along with very talented musicianship. Classics include A Really Cool Dance Song & My Wena. Check out the heavy rock riff on I Gotchoo, these boys can really rock when they want to.

Randall, you are so full of it. This cd is the best! I got this cd as a present from my cousin who works at a local radio station. I love every song. But my total fave is Hooray For Beer! Jaret is still delicious! BFS still rocks out! Great job guys!! The videos FOR NO HABLO INGLES and my wena are hilarious!
