5.0 out of 5 stars a.k.a. "Sorry I Make Chemical Brothers Look Crap", October 24, 2005
This review is from: Sorry I Make You Lush (Audio CD)
This has to be Wagon Christ's best album yet. It's rare to find an album that manages to incorperate a sense of humour and 'wackiness' without sacrificing any integrity. For all the weirdness and funny noises, this album seems to mainly be all about the grooves. "Shadows" is a gorgeous track, unlike anything I've really heard before. "Wide Trax" is a shimmering, sloping monster of a track. In fact listening to Sorry I Make You Lush is a bit like walking into an Aladdins cave of breakbeats and found sounds... every track has something to offer the listener. Definitely recommended for anyone who can't be bothered with Basement Jaxx/Chemical Bros. style play-it-safe dance music, but who still wants to dance.

5.0 out of 5 stars FEELIN' KINDA LUSH!!!, July 27, 2004
This review is from: Sorry I Make You Lush (Audio CD)
Sorry I Make You Lush! is a continuation of where Wagon Christ's phenomenal Musipal left off, with elements of his equally impressive releases, Tally Ho and YosepH. Wagon Christ a/k/a Luke Vibert has produced yet another masterpiece that utilizes hiphop/funk sounds, acid jazz embellishments, funky basslines and familiar samples! This one isn't as hype, or groundbreaking as the aformentioned classics by W.C.--and it's much shorter in duration as well--but that doesn't take away from the quality of the music. Wagon Christ has once again demonstrated that he can create a damn good party CD! Highly Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars let's have some fun..., December 15, 2004

Wagon Christ, well, we all know and love him, even though he would damn us all to hell without a care. He returns with this foray, an experimentation in electronic music that is just dying to wake our inner child ...all highly emotional and I think that the secret to his success is that he doesnt limit his creativity in the studio, he will just go off on to whatever tangent strikes him. This album to me seems like a dare to go where no man has ever gone. I love listening to it, although a couple tracks seem a little distasteful... "The funnies" is a sample nightmare... Ubformby is just too alien, and repulsive...

The rest of the album is why I wrote this...

it is really fine, fusion jazz, space age, club music for druggies. It's vibrant, melodic, striking, daring, creepy, sick, and downright lush...

The first track, Saddic Gladdic, it begins with a child begging to hear music.

What is he trying to say through this? And the intro? He's happy about something, and this music is just bouncy and lovely, I think hes trying to tease us because he thinks he knows what we want out of our music... well, he knows what "I" want.

The 4th track "Shadows" reminds me that there are hidden aspects to everything we perceive in life, and that there is a dark and light side to everything.

Well, its a great album, its a sonic journey of discovery, much like you would usually aspect from Luke Vibert.

So, maybe I'm lushing too much, but this is how I feel about this album. Alot of critics on this site condemn this style of music and call it fruity and leftfield, inaccessible, crackpot, whatever. Everyone should have a taste of this.
