3.0 out of 5 stars Adequate remake., July 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Sorry Wrong Number [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This version (I have NOT seen the original with Barbara Stanwick) is pretty routine. The music score is so subtle, it builds no tension. The acting is monotonous, and Loni Anderson looks pretty healthy to be playing such an ailing character. But, as the story goes, you get caught up in the premise (Loni overhearing her murder plot via phone) that you make it to the end. Has fine support from Hal Holbrook, as Loni's father. I suppose your better off with the original, but stick with Loni and you'll get a guilty pleasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Barbara Stanwyck, February 1, 2004
This is Barbara Stanwyck at her best. I can recommend this DVD to those who are into suspense thrillers and who are followers of black and white movies. If there is only one Barbara Stanwyck on your list this has to be the one.
To be able to buy this DVD on Region 2 is long over due. Thankfully there is such a thing as a multi regional DVD player. Buy this one you will not be disappointed. It wont be your last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sorry Right Movie: The Magic of Loni Anderson, March 27, 2007

This review is from: Sorry Wrong Number [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I recently bought the movie and watched it twice and enjoyed it very much. I thought the acting was wonderful and there just isn't hardly anyone more beautiful than Loni Anderson. When I bought the movie, I didn't try to compare it to the original. Loni gave a more sensitive sad portrayal of the doomed character than Barbara Stanwyck. When you have a remake made over 40 years later, you really should not compare it to the original. Hal Holbrooks gave an excellent portrayal as Loni's father as well. I totally disagree with the other reviews on this board. This movie is worth having in your collection.
