Great book. I just finished.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
This book helped me better understand the many ways we grieve, and that it is o.k. for the process to affect all of us differently.
Within the span of one year, I lost my good friend to suicide, my father to a very short bout with cancer, and a baby-to-be in the second trimester. This book helped me understand that it is acceptable for a 40 something year old man to break down in tears (have an emotional tsunami) while in the midst of my daily routine. Grieving does not end, nor should our support for those who have experienced a loss in their lives. Read this book. Learn from it, then share it with those suffering from or supporting those who have had a loss.Sorry For Your Loss: What People Who Are Grieving Wish You Knew (Good Things to Know)

This book was a real eye-opener to me. It's almost a joke how few close people I have lost in my life (all of my grandparents are still living and I'm in my mid-30s!), so I TRULY was lost whenever someone I knew experienced a great loss. I couldn't even honestly tell someone that I could even imagine what he or she was going through. When I read this book, I started to get an inkling. And I realized how much I have probably hurt people by just simply not reaching out in a time of crisis. Full of concrete suggestions for the completely clueless friend/relative/acquaintance of a griever, this book is useful for more than just opening someone's eyes. I need to read it again and again to make sure I won't be paralyzed when my next friend loses a loved one. Thank you, Alicia King!
