Haunting Ballads,
This review is from: Sorry about the Flowers (Audio CD)
Venice Is Sinking has mastered the haunting, dreamy sound for which many shoegazing bands strive. The evocative violin blends seamlessly with the affecting vocals and the buzzing guitars. If you like bands like Snow Patrol and Catherine Wheel, you will likely enjoy this album too. Listen to the free samples, and you'll see how some songs on "Sorry about the Flowers" are instantly memorable. The rest of the album has really grown on me as well. It remains in my regular rotation.

Can something be both lush and sparse at the same time?
Venice is Sinking display the maturity and poise of a band that has been together for decades. This album is a pretty, catchy, lovely listen... often punctuated by moments of stunning beauty.

Very Nice First Attempt,

This is Venice is Sinking's first album, and despite a little too much redundancy it is a great first attempt. Every album should have a coherency between songs, which should be why the artist chose those songs to compile together in a singular experience. However, there is a fine line between coherency and redundancy. And I think this album might have staggered on the line a bit - especially towards the end of the album. But, overall, there's enough in this album to make it worth the buy. The two best songs are "Undecided" and "Pulaski Heights".
