Best Friends!!!!!,
By Molly Thomas (Falls City, Nebraska, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sort of Forever (Hardcover)
Sort of Forever is a book about two 12 year old girls named Cady and Nana. They have been best friends since they were babies. These two friends live in the same neighborhood. In their neighborhood, there is an empty lot at the top of the hill. Cady and Nana love this lot. It is a great look out to see the ocean. Nana claims she is going to buy the lot when she get older. Nana soon becomes diagnosed with cancer. She becomes weaker and weaker as time goes on. Cady visits her everyday either at the hospital or at home. School is getting ready to start and Nana will not be going to the 7th grade this year with Cady. She will have a tutor for all of her school work. Cady still visits her everyday after school. Cady's parents become worried about Cady because they don't think she should be around this terrible situation. I thought this was a fantastic book!!! There wasn't really anything I didn't like about the book. This would be a good read for someone who has a friend who is diagnosed with cancer. It would help you on how to deal with the problem.

The Struggles of Cancer...For Everyone,
By
This review is from: Sort of Forever (Paperback)
Cady feels nothing but loyalty to her best friend, Nana, who has been struggling with cancer. Finally, it appears as though there is nothing left for the doctors to do...it is time for Nana to come home and wait to die. "Sort of Forever" is the story of the struggles of the two friends. While Nana struggles just to be herself in the midst of the weakening disease, Cady struggles to be there for her whenever possible, knowing that any minute could be Nana's last. This book was touching, and taught me a lot about cancer. My great uncle was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago, and it was helpful for me to actually learn about what cancer was and some ways it affects your body. So I guess "Sort of Forever" was a two-in-one type of book, and if I could rate the educational value of it, I would give it a four. I think girls will enjoy this interesting, entertaining book about friendship and finding a silver lining in a dark time.

True Friendship,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sort of Forever (Paperback)
If you like to read books of friendship, and reality you should try this book. In this book you will see two very loyal friends deal with life and death. Nana is dealing with cancer, experiencing all of the emotions that go with a life threatening situation. Cady, her best friend is staying by her side, helping her cope with her illness. Cady and Nana show what true friendship is all about, helping each other through profound difficulties. Luckily I've never had to deal with these problems. I felt their friendship helped me see what it would be like to deal with a sad situation. Even though this was a sad book, I really enjoyed it.

great story for middle school girls,
By
This review is from: Sort of Forever (Paperback)
Sort of Forever was a very interesting, yet sad, story. I found it interesting because I could connect with the two main girls because they were my age. The courage and loyalty shown by both girls was touching and inspiring. However, I wish the story ended differently. I wish he author explained what happened to Cady after the saddest part of the book, when Nana died. Overall I rate this book a 4 out of 5.

Sort of Forever,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sort of Forever (Paperback)
Sort of Forever was a great book! It was about a girl named Cady, whose best friend Nana has cancer. During the summer Cady goes to visit Nana in the hospital, but by the days go on she notices that Nana is changing, and getting more and more weaker. On the day of Halloween, Nana and Cady go and throw toilet paper on the mean man's so-called house, who took over their lot just to build a house that he is not even going to live in. Cady and Nana had so much fun having their last adventure together, for Nana is soon to die. On the day of Nana's death, Cady is so so sad, I even cried when I read this part. Cady now has to face the seventh grade without Nana. During the book, Cady meets a new girl named Laura, who soon becomes friends with Cady. I really like this book, because in some ways it reminded me of one of my really good friends, who moved away. Even thought my friend did not die, it sort of seems like it because I never get to see her, and I had to face the sixth grade without her. My favorite part of the book, is when one of the nurse's talks with Cady and tells her "Best friends, that's never going to change, it will last forever." And then Cady says "Sort of, anyway." I think that I would recommend this book to a person that has a friend who either died, or moved away, because it really inspires you. Sally Warner did a great job with this book, I loved all of the characters, and the funny little parts that it had. -ED

Best Friends don't ever end,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sort of Forever (Paperback)
having a best friend who is just like Nana but no cancer makes it easy for me to feel what Cady felt. In this book you will or have read about two best friends, Cady and Nana who fight the one of the biggest challenges for 2 bestfriends! In this book Cady has always been rescued by Nana even when she gets hit by a tennis ball or gets trapped in a skating rink. Nana has always been there but now Nana has cancer and Cady doesnt get rescued. Cady goes over to Nana's house everyday even when she is in the hostpital. This book is a "sob fest" but it is the best book about friends I have ever read! My best firend and I are alot like Cady and Nana. My best friend is always there to rescue me! I can't help wondering when it will be time to rescue her!

Sort of Forever Review,
This review is from: Sort of Forever (Paperback)
I thought this book was very touching and made me sad. I could connect to the feeling of the two main characters and how they felt about the situation Nana was in. This book was touching and sad but I wanted to know what happened to Cady after the book and how she was doing. If I were the author I would make a sequel that is short to summarize what happens after the time frame of the book. Maybe then more viewers would be satisfied of knowing what happened after the book. I feel this book was very inspiring! Overall I give this book 4 out of 5 stars!

Sort of Forever,
A Kid's Review

A sad, but touching story about love, friendship, loyalty, family, and moving on. I found the charecters to be entertaining, and I enjoyed following what was happening with Nana, the girl with cancer. I know it sounds odd to say I "enjoyed" it, but I've always wondered what having cancer was like, and this book told me a lot about it.
I would recommend this book to any girl, especially girls curious about cancer.

Warner brings warmth to Cancer,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sort of Forever (Hardcover)
The truth of this novel is truly inspiring. The binding friendship of these two young girls is tested to the extent but they will always be together forever in the other's memory. I think this book is superior to all others for young adults on cancer because it takes it to an understandable and realistic level! I loved the concept of the book and though with just a little more elaboration it could truly be out of this world! Warner, congrats on another job well done!
