Suprise for the mind, December 18, 2002
This review is from: The Soul of a Black Woman: From a Whisper to a Shout (Paperback)
This book is fantastic. Its takes you through a journey of a black womans life. Most black men can not understand why black women are so strong. In reading this book, I realized that struggle can make you or break you, and in this case, it made a strong black woman. Thank you for the experience, and thank you for opening my eyes.

Excellent, December 13, 2002

The author C. Highsmith-Hooks did an excellent job of reaching out to the reader. The depth of emotions I felt cannot be explained in 1,000 words. Her poems took me on a journey filled with empathy, sadness, happiness, and triumph. Just when I think she's done; I am provided with a glimpse of talent not yet unleashed. I have not felt this way about poems since reading Maya Angelou who's work of art I hold very dear and close to my heart.
