The only truly scary book I've read except for Dracula,
This review is from: Soul Eater (Paperback)
I read Dracula in the third grade, and I didn't turn my lights off at night for at least three years. Soul Eater is the only truly scary book I've read since then, and it scared me as an adult, not a child. It's completely original, fast-moving, a triumph of brooding atmosphere, and has a deeply flawed narrator I identified with immediately. I read it when it first came out and can still remember scenes from it vividly. For me, it was the book that established Jeter as a major writer, and it made me want to read everything he had written or would ever write. I still feel like that today. |
