Product Description

SOUL technology at work

Within every pair of SOUL SE5 headphones, advanced electronics use microphones inside and outside each ear cup to sense the sounds around you-and reduce the noise. Proprietary ear cushion technology blocks some of the noise before it even reaches your ears. Together, these SOUL innovations add up to a more enjoyable listening experience. SOUL SE5 headphones also feature proprietary signal processing for more lifelike sound-including deep low notes-from small, lightweight ear cups. And when you\\\'d rather relax without music, switch on your SOUL SE5 headphones to simply reduce the noise around you, wherever you are.

Take calls. Take control.

SOUL SE5 headphones come with a cable customized for select Apple products. A three-button remote and microphone let you take calls on your iPhone and control music functions on other Apple devices. A standard audio cable is included for your convenience as well.

Welcome to a better-sounding world

When you fly with SOUL SE5 headphones, engine roar fades to a whisper. When you listen at home or at work, fewer distractions get in the way of your music. And when you want to stay connected, calls are just a button-press away. SOUL SE5 headphones continue to give you more of what you want to hear, and less of what you don\\\'t.

Would definitely buy again, 10x better than Sennheiser's priced up to 2x as much!

Now I am left with a pair of cans I can't return because they are past the return policy.

Like another user here, i also orderd the sl300wb's originally but was told they were out of stock and sent these as a replacement. on a basic EQ these sound very hollow but after running these through various 3rd party EQ apps ( Poweramp for Android, EQ10 for iOS) thses have a lot of range in both hi's and bass ability. These are marketed for hiphop but sound much better when used for highly produced presentations like live performance or classical music and industrial / techno. hip hop has a very basic amount of tracks so it doesn't quite push enough for these to make use of.

I have tested these against Beats Studio's Bose OE 2's, Monster Npulse and Shure studio's and they handle high's much better than the Beats but aren't as crisp as the Bose and have the same range but sound more solid than the Monsters. if you can get these at the right price i would recomend them but at full price I would continue looking.

I bought these around Christmas and it seems they are exactly the same as the SL300s but without the carrying case. Upon putting in the batteries and turning the noise cancellation switch on, the exterior sounds were muted quite well. I also thought they fit very comfortably so things were looking good for these headphones. My biggest gripe was when I turned the volume up to about 70%, the noise leakage was unacceptable. Everyone could hear VERY clearly what music I was listening to and that is no good when I am traveling on a plane, in a car with others etc. I thought they may have been a defective pair so I paid to ship them back to SOUL who's customer support was excellent I might add, but no dice. They said that the leakage was at acceptable levels. Now I am left with a pair of cans I can't return because they are past the return policy. I ordered a pair of Noontec Hammos instead and they don't leak at all. Overall very comfortable and made well, I wanted to like the SOULS but the leakage was beyond something I could deal with.

Verified Purchase
My reviews below are still valid, but in the end the noise canceling was insufficient for my needs and I returned them. They also leaked sound like crazy which I did not enjoy.

They will likely work for people who aren't looking for total silence but still pretty good sound quality. They are very comfortable and the battery life seems to be longer than stated which is great. If you're not sure what you're looking for they're worth a try at the $65 - $80 price range.

So, I have a coworker who never stops talking and as a result needed noise canceling headphones. This is my review:

Sound: 8
I have a pair of audio Technica over the ear (non-noise cancelling headphones) that were like $35 and the sound is amazing. The sound on these over emphasizes bass/electrnoica heavy music. I listen to some of my rock/hardcore stuff that has lots of distortion and it can sound a little crappy at times. However, a HUGE!!!! cause of this is the song quality. I was listening to Pandora and the headphones sounded terrible! However, I actually had one of the songs I heard on Pandora on CD quality on my computer and went back and listened to it and it sounded much better. Do not let your crappy downloaded garbage music ruin the experience of these headphones. These headphones have good sound, but it's a two way street and good quality music is required.

Also, although the headphones (technically) work without batteries and the sound booster on, they don't sound very good and have a weird white noise that accompanies your ears as they are not fully filled with sound. That said, the sound with the boosters on is pretty good and the only way to use these headphones.

Just received product today as replacement for SL300WB from AV House. So far it's everything I expected. I've been testing a variety of genres including hip-hop, R&B, reggae, classical, hard/alternative rock, metal, dubstep, trap, electrohouse... I have to say they give some very solid audio playback. The bass is amazing. Not as overpowering as Beats but enough to bring a smile to your face. The mids/highs are clear but not perfect. The noise-cancelling is about an 8/10 but the sound leakage is terrible. Anything above 50% volume people around you can hear when in a quiet room. Sound quality aside, the build for these headphones feel secure and are very comfortable. Keep in mind they are very big and noticeable when walking outside. But all-in-all very satisfied.

I bought 2 pairs of these when they were $75.00. One for me and one for my wife. They are actually pretty good. Regards overpricing, remember these are active noise canceling. The Bose noise canceling are $300.00 and these are comparable. We used these on the airplane when flying from Atlanta to Manila in January and they worked great. You switch them on and almost all the aircraft noise disappears and suddenly the inflight movie becomes easy to hear and clear.

These Soul units have a feature that is worth mentioning. On some flights with other noise canceling headsets (I have owned and used a half dozen brands over the last ten years) some headsets are impossibly loud when you switch them on. That is, the aircraft sound system is so loud that even with the volume turned all the way to the lowest adjustment on the screen, the sound blasts you out of your seat. These Soul units have a small switch in the battery compartment that reduces the incoming sound level that avoids this problem on airplanes with too loud sound output. These Soul units are well thought out.

Regards quality, these appear to be well made and rugged. In spite of over-the-ear they fold together and fit in a nice small case. Lots of accessories (cables and adapters) included.

Frankly, even at the price of $100.00 I think these are a good buy for a good quality set of noise canceling over-the-ear headphones. BTW, I know this review is very positive but I don't work for Soul, I am an airline pilot. I only use these for when I am a passenger.
