Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Soul & Everyday Life is a live recording of a workshop conducted by the author. The theme centers around Moore's best-selling Care of the Soul (HarperAudio, 1992). Audience participants discuss relationships between the soul and work, and money and creativity. Moore concludes that the soul is greater than the smallness of our problems and our pasts. It is a part of our whole experience of the universe, and caring for the soul is not about introspection. Nor is it about understanding the mistakes our parents made. Moore favors a return to the Medieval and Renaissance view of the soul as something as vast as the universe. This view helps us to put the hurts of our lives into a broader context. Although the recording is garbled at times--particularly during the audience responses to Moore's statements--this soulful experience will make a good addition to larger philosophy collections.

Review

On two cassettes, Thomas Moore's Soul and Everyday Life takes the listener through an actual lecture and workshop weekend conducted at The Open Center in New York. Moore is a master of getting soul out of Church and back into the 20th Century. Based on the insights and observations in Moore's best-selling Care of the Soul and Soul Mates, this audio cassette presentation is exceptionally well recorded and well both enlighten and enthuse the listener. -- Midwest Book Review
