Editorial Reviews

2013 release, the 15th album from the Smooth Jazz guitarist. Produced and engineered by Yandall (who also writes 11 of the 14 tracks), this is very much his own project and a resounding showcase for his art. Yandall's music is typified by an easy grooving San Diego vibe that is consistently to die for. Despite a mellow introduction, 'It's Time' quickly takes on something of a Steely Dan attitude and, talking of Steely Dan, Patrick takes time out for a sumptuous reimagining of the band's 'Josie.' One of only three covers it is in the good company of a handsome take on the timeless 'Human Nature' and an immaculate rendition of Larry Carlton's 'Room 335' from his 1977 self-titled debut.

Subtle blends of R & B, funk and soul, his works are always interpreted on jazzy bases never walk away from a well-controlled Groove. Good guitarist, technical and precise, Patrick transmits his drive and passion for music with talent, he is one of those rare musicians in the style that write, produce and interpret all their albums. Moreover, in recent years, the musician has composed some of the best Smooth Jazz recordings. Despite this, Patrick is unfortunately often forgotten from radios in the United States.

Format: Audio CD
One of the most under played guitarists by American radio, Patrick Yandall has found is audience through the internet, films and TV shows that use his music, satallite radio and live appearances. This 2013 release really cooks as Yandall taps deep into his funky and soulful bag. Cuts like "The Don" and his cover of Steely Dan's "Josie" are among the standouts. Yandall's spiritual side gets exposed on the soaring "When Robins Fly" - a tribute to a boyhood friend.

Yandall's guitar work is exciting and inventive. The lead-off track "My Lady" got significant smooth jazz play. He offers a generous 14 cuts here, The work here is a joyful and sunny trip. One of his best releases.
