5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to any collection
I've been a fan of Jeffrey Osborne since he fronted LTD and belted out hits like "Shine On" and "Love Ballad." 3.0 out of 5 stars Jeffrey Osborne
This is a surprisingly pleasant cd. I would suggest purchasing it. If you have heard Jeffrey's voice you know he can seduce you with his melodies. Add this 'feel good' cd to your collection.

I've been a fan of Jeffrey Osborne since he fronted LTD and belted out hits like "Shine On" and "Love Ballad." Since then, he made his own mark as a solo artist with "On the Wings of Love," "You Should Be Mine (The Woo Woo Song)" and "Stay With Me Tonight." As one of the smoothest vocalists in the R&B world, Osborne has consistently delivered albums that have been as satisfying as they have been underrated. Now, with "From the Soul," Osborne gives us a collection of cover songs that is already getting noticed on the Urban AC charts. He has reinterpreted classic tunes in his own, silky-smooth style, from Aretha Franklin's "Till You Come Back To Me," to the Curtis Mayfield standard, "People Get Ready," to Roberta Flack's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." Also included are his first chart hit from the album, "Yes, I'm Ready," and the much-covered "Hey Girl." Overall, this compilation stands very well alongside the recent releases from Michael McDonald and Hall & Oates, and should be welcomed into the collection of any classic R&B fan.

Jeffrey Osborne has done it again! What a smooth album filled with Jeff's smooth-toned voice! I have enjoyed every track on this CD. His remake on such tunes as "Close the Door", "Till you come back to me, and "Every little bit hurts" takes you back to the good old days when music was sweet and mellow. I highly recommend this CD to all those "real music" lovers who just want to sit make and reflect on better days. A must have for any music collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ole School Fan and Jeffrey Osborne Fan Here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, October 4, 2005
This review is from: From the Soul (Audio CD)
This cd is filled with good music...and a damn good singer!!!!

Jeffrey Osborne was interviewed on a radio program recently and said (about emotion and simplicity in music) that the young singers today do "a million riffs" which is not a challenge (vocally) and not necessarily emotional. VERY WELL SAID JEFF!!!

This CD is SMOOTH!!!! I love the versions of "Yes, I'm Ready", "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "Close the Door". For a classic R&B music fan like me, this cd will get much play in my house/office/on the train/in the supermarket/in the car etc....Jeffrey still has his 'chops'. The boi can still saaaaanng!!!! BUY IT NOW!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jeffrey Osborne , A Song Stylist., October 18, 2005
This review is from: From the Soul (Audio CD)
I was on my way to work when I first heard over the radio the classic remake of Yes I'm ready by Jeffrey Osborne and was floored with his interpretation. After purchasing the CD I listen to all of the songs and it was a pleasure to hear good music once again. The First Time, Until You Come Back, Every Little bit Hurts, etc. But I got stuck on Yes I am ready, its not to many men that would have the self assurance in themself to sing a song that shows the passive side of a women, but Jeffrey went pass that and sang that song his way which makes it so special and even Barbara Mason the writer and original singer would have to be proud to hear his rendition. This entire CD is a testament of what a song stylist does versus just a singer. If I can ever get pass Yes I m Ready I can enjoy the rest of the CD. Jeffrey you stuck your foot in this one!

They don't make 'em like this anymore, and few actually sing 'em like this anymore. What a wonderful addition to my collection. Jeffrey's always been a great singer, harking way back to his LTD days. Well he's on top of his game on this one folks. And to the reviewers who've preceded me on this release, you're on top of your game too. Good lookin' out. I ain't heard some of these jams in XXyears (ha-ha).It's all good, literally, but my fav of favs: Yes,I'm Ready and Every Little Bit Hurts. Keep 'em comin' Jeff. This is what I'm talking 'bout!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, November 9, 2005
This review is from: From the Soul (Audio CD)
I LOVE THIS CD....A JAZZY TWIST TO THESE RE-MAKES, JEFFREY PUTS IT DOWN AS USUAL WITH HIS VERY CLEAR & PRECISE BARATONED VOICE. HE HAS MADE EACH SONG HIS OWN AND THEY TAKE YOU BACK! GREAT LISTENING ON THE WAY INTO WORK AND/OR AFTER A LONG DAY. WHETHER ALONE OR WITH YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER, YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. GO OUT THERE AND BUY THIS ONE, YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

5.0 out of 5 stars This really is From the Soul, November 7, 2005
This review is from: From the Soul (Audio CD)
Jeffrey Osborne is worthy of every word of praise for his newest release, From the Soul. The whole album is amazing, but I admit my favorite is "Yes I'm Ready." I really like his distinct baritone voice and the way he does his own interpretation of these songs. I definitely recommend this album!
