5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Compilation Album
This is truly about the best neo-soul compilation album to date. What I like even more is that most of the artists on this album are independent artists that are very credible. There is a plethera of styles present on this album. The title of the album fits perfectly. People, please don't sleep on this one!

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay...
I only purchased this for a few songs. I am sorry but at times Neo Soul is just too forgiving for non-talent. 1) Antoinque's Sunshine...just was not impressive. I could have done without the run down of names. 2)Some songs just have a dated "housie" feel. 3)Maysa by Ascension-is below average,

The SAVIORS of this CD are: Heston, Conya Doss, Eric...

This CD is great! One of the best CDs that I have bought this year. Highly recommended to serious neo soul fans! Too bad so many of the artists on the CD don't get a lot of airplay. Fortunately in Atlanta, WCLK 91.9 keeps the vibe going....

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly great little soul sampler!, May 1, 2004

The good folks at Groove Nation, one of the most well regarded proponents of the scene since the mid 90's did a wonderful job here hand-picking 16 tracks by some of the greatest acts in the soul underground. It's pretty much a who's who of artists who have carried the torch of the deepest, most genuine soul and soul jazz of the past few decades into the 21st century! A truly great little soul sampler! "If" by Heston, "Past Paradise" by Eric Roberson, "The Beginning Of Never" by Marlon Saunders, "Something Real" by Seek, "Spirit" by Monet, "Heaven Help Us All" by Urban Ave. 31, "Just Because" by Conya Doss, "Keep It Real" by Queen Aaminah, "Mary Ann" by Andreus, "Maysa" by Ascension, "Time" by Big Brooklyn Red, "Situation" by Jonz and more! This was a CD that made me feel comfortable and relaxed! I was looking for something that was inspiring because I had lost my Hidden Hits Vol 1 CD and needed something close to those lines. Sometimes we get caught up in the ones that go mainstream and neglect those who are just as good underground! Thanks to people like that I still feel there is better music out there than what mainstream cannot seem to offer. My heart goes out to those that persevere. Keep the Soul Lounge and Hidden Hits type albums going!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars For Music Lovers, January 21, 2012
If you like hearing good music that goes beyond the same "19 Jamz in a Row", you will enjoy this cd. I purchased it years ago for the "Heaven Help Us All" track by Urban Ave 31 (featuring Raheem DeVaughn) - shout out to the Bassman! But it's all good, whether you're in the car or chilling at home alone or with company.

5.0 out of 5 stars good groove, December 26, 2011

I first heard the song Something Real when I was listening to Satellite music station on my T.V. I looked up the song and found it on Soul Lounge Vol.I. I was in for a big surprise when all the songs were great. I listen to the CD when I am driving in my car or mingling with friends. You will love it too, if you like to groove to great vocals and harmonies. Great creative song styles. I am the kind of listener who pays attention to deeper details in a song like subtle voices in background, percussion accents and harmonies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Radio Should Sound Like This, May 13, 2011
Every song has a great positive vibe. Not like the garbage that is on radio now. Best of all...NO AUTO TUNED singing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Buried Treasure, February 14, 2011

I was first introduced to this wonderful collection of neo-soul variety-type songs when my husband and I were sitting inside a unique bar in Georgia, enjoying martinis and playing old school games like "Connect Four." The bartender had this CD playing on the stereo and it served as the perfect soundtrack for the atmosphere. When the CD ended and he went to put in another, I was compelled to ask what he had been playing.

I memorized the title and the cover and ordered it immediately.

It has become a commodity in our home and we pull it out often at intimate gatherings with our friends and family. We are always receiving queries as to the who and what of the CD.

My favorite artist on the collection is Eric Roberson, but I enjoy so much more about the CD. It is very well put together.
