Fantastic paranormal series,
This review is from: Soul Magic: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Wing Slayer Sutton West promised himself to end his life as soon as he looses control of his bloodlust and he realizes that this point of time is nearing.
Two years ago Carla's twin sister was killed by rogue witch hunters. When Sutton meets her, he fears that the attraction he feels for her might be the first step to loosing control. After he saves her from a rogue attack, they discover that her twin sister Keri is trapped in the knife of rogue hunter Styx. Carla and Sutton team up to save Keri's soul. But who of the twins is his soul mate? Ms. Lyon created with the world of the Wing Slayer Hunters, a world like no other I have encountered before. From the first page I was absolutely captivated by the story and it took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. I really suffered with Sutton and Carla while the story progressed and see how they overcome the obstacles that are thrown into their way. Although it is possible to read SOUL MAGIC as a stand alone, I recommend that you read BLOOD MAGIC prior reading this book, to get the whole background information about the Wing Slayer hunters. I can hardly wait to see whose story will be next, because this is one of the best paranormal series that I have read in the last couple of years. If you are looking for an extraordinary paranormal romance with terrific characters, look no further and get your copy of SOUL MAGIC today! Courtesy of Loveromances and More!

This review is from: Soul Magic: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I really liked Blood Magic, it was a completely different concept and I was intrigued with the curse and blood lust. Axel and Darcy's story was riveting, I think in part because of the author introducing everything and everyone. Sutton and Carla's story had a different taste to it, one of regrets, grief, friendship.
Carla and Sutton have tried to stay away from each other. Sutton is sure he will lose the battle to the curse very, very soon. Carla is trying to move past the grief of her twin sister's death and continue to help the clinic that she works at. Sutton and Carla took a long long time to get together. In fact there was flirting, but not much romance in the first 2/3rds of the book. I found it refreshing to say Murder Game where the hero and heroine fall in the sack within the first two chapters. Carla has just been contacted by her dead sister who was bound into a Rogue's knife, she's also afraid that Sutton is Keri's 'Eagle' and Keri's soul mirror, not Carla's. This is a big part of the book, but certainly not the entire plot. Darcy and Carla are fighting for control of the Witch's Circle, and Axel and the Wing Slayers are fighting a more devious enemy than before. I believe that many would compare this book to JK Ward's Lover Enshrined in that it is a 'between' book and a stepping stone for larger and bigger plots. Still I really enjoy Jennifer Lyon's novels and the fact that they are paperback price is the icing on the cake. I have a feeling that like other authors this one will get better with age. Each book will be more twisted, deeper and more thought out than the last one. That doesn't mean that Sutton and Carla's story was bad, give it a shot...... I have a thing for eagles.

terrific romantic fantasy,
This review is from: Soul Magic: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Wing Slayer Sutton West has vowed to follow his father's lead if the moment he can no longer control his blood lust begins. When the curse began to overwhelm his sire chose suicide rather than harm an innocent witch.
Rogue witch slayers killed Keri Fisk. Two years have passed and her twin sister psychiatrist Dr. Carla Fisk still mourns her loss. Sutton finds he is attracted to Carla, who runs a clinic, but he fears that desire might be the first step in the curse. However, he saves her life when rogues attack, but both realize a shocker; the rogue Styx and the demon Asmodeus have teamed up and trapped Keri's soul in a knife used by the witch slayer to provide his partner with the souls of witches she kills. As they try to save Keri's soul, Sutton and Carla wonder which twin is his soul mate. The second Magic romantic fantasy (see Blood Magic) is a super saga as readers learn more about the plight of Keri and the soul mirrors through the lead couple. The fun in the tale is observing Sutton and Carla forging a loving relationship in spite of the curse placing them in opposite hostile camps in which their attraction means death. Filled with danger Soul Magic is a terrific tale that stands alone, but reading the previous entry enhances the knowledge of the Lyon world of Magic. Harriet Klausner

The Wing Slayer series is one I picked up on my Kindle on a whim. I had nothing to read and was looking for something new... what I got was a great surprise! The book is fast-paced with an original storyline and great characters. Much like the other series I have read, this one pulls you in from the very first book and keeps your attention. Each book in the series gets better - and I can't wait to read the next one! If you're looking for something with steamy romance, a good storyline, and original writing - this is one that's definitely worth it!

Soul Magic,
This review is from: Soul Magic: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Round two in Jennifer Lyon¡¦s Wing Slayer Hunter series is the story of Dr. Carla Fisk, a psychologist and earth witch whose sole purpose in life is to help victims of brainwashing and cult activity. As both a shrink and a practicing earth witch, Carla is uniquely qualified to help her patients deal with their trauma while simultaneously easing their pain. Carla¡¦s compassion and desire to help others was born out of her inability to help her twin sister Keri, a powerful earth witch who was killed by rogue Hunters. Since Keri¡¦s death, Carla has remained true to her life¡¦s purpose but has, in all other areas of her life, closed herself off. By all accounts Sutton West is a tried and true bad ass techno geek who fights valiantly alongside the Wing Slayer Hunters. Sutton is so absolutely committed to his vow to Wing Slayer that he would, like his father before him, rather kill himself than go rogue. Unfortunately for Sutton his day of reckoning is closer than he would like to admit; the urge to kill an earth witch and bathe in her blood is becoming harder and harder to resist. Just to make things interesting, Sutton is thrown into the middle of a mess that involves Carla Fisk and her dead twin sister. Now, both Carla and Sutton have a few problems: Carla¡¦s dead twin is trapped in the world between life and death and calling out to Carla to help her; Sutton is beyond sure that Carla is his soul mirror but can¡¦t convince Carla of this; a new powerful rogue by the name of Styx is inhibiting Carla¡¦s ability to reach her sister and killing Carla in the process; and Sutton is coming dangerously close to violating his vows and going rogue himself. It¡¦s time to get serious about fixing these problems. As with the first book in this series, once the plot really takes hold and is established, things begin to move quickly. With the help of the rest of the Wing Slayers and a small circle of brave earth witches, Carla and Sutton are able to track down Styx, kick his ass, and save Keri in the process. Of course, there¡¦s also a little naughtiness thrown in for good measure º What I like about this series is the fact that Lyon isn¡¦t willing to sacrifice the long term plot for the sake of the immediate story and vice versa. Sutton and Carla¡¦s story is played out to completion while still advancing the long-term plot line at the same time. We find out, as we expected too, that Styx is simply another piece or pawn in a much larger, more far-reaching, and sinister game than we ever could have imagined. While Carla, Sutton, the Wing Slayer Hunters, and the witches do their part to eliminate the immediate threat, they are all well aware that the fight has only truly just begun.

I've been having BDB withdrawal and needed something to feed my need for a good paranormal series with "hot bad boys" in it - this series forfilled that need. The first novel was a little confusing concerning the curse - the major plot line - but now I am understanding it better and it really does make sense to me.
For me to rate a book a 5 star - it must do or have the following: Great world building where I can picture it in my mind easily Actions flow smoothly and keep me turning the pages Characters that I become "attached" to and want to know what happens to them HEA - I want and need a HEA Heat factor - A graphic description of the sex act does not always turn me on but an explicit love making scene can. Fully developed plot with strong Alpha male or males This book had all the above - so much so that once I started reading the darn thing - I could not put it down. I ended up staying up too late trying to finish reading it.

How can you choose between the man you love and your sister?
Sutton West is a Wing Slayer Hunter. They protect the mortal witches from witch hunters who long to spill their blood. The Wing Slayer's fight this curse and have each pledged to kill one another if they should turn rogue. They've recently found out that the Wing Slayer's have a Soul Mirror out there somewhere; someone who can complete their soul and save them from the curse. Carla Fisk is a witch who watched her twin sister Keri murdered by rogues two years ago. Now in a vision, she sees how Keri had bound herself to a silver knife during the attack. Keri's soul needs to be freed so she can go to Summerland to be reincarnated. Carla and Keri are twin bound so their connection helps Carla lead her to the knife. Sutton vows to Carla to retrieve the knife and free Keri, but he can't keep away from Carla. He is positive she is his soul mirror. Carla loves Sutton but can't commit to him. If she completes the Soul Mirror bond it will break her connection with Keri. She also is worried that she isn't Sutton's soul mirror, but Keri is. How can she choose between the man she loves and her sister? SOUL MAGIC is a paranormal romance filled with magic, romance, and family. Sutton and Carla's romance steam up the pages while the reader feels for the choices they have to make. Jennifer Lyons spins and weaves a magical story that most paranormal romance funs will love.

Two years ago Carla's twin sister Keri was killed by a rogue and now her soul is stuck in a knife and she's not able to move on, to be at peace. Both Carla and Sutton are connected to Keri, and their intense attracting to each other is almost more than they can handle. But to save Keri they must resist that attraction or she could be lost forever...
I love this series, The Wing Slayer Hunters are delicious! I read the first book (Blood Magic) when I was in a reading slump, and it only took me the first few pages and I was hooked. I think I love this one even more than the first. Carla and Sutton's coming together was really sweet. Also at the same time intense and heart wrenching. I love the action that comes with each book, the story is always moving. The back story with the witches, rogues and the Wing Slayer Hunters is absolutely intriguing. I can't wait to read the next one. Ms. Lyon brings the action and the sexy with each story, in my opinion they are not to be missed.

Soul Magic worthy successor to Blood Magic,
This review is from: Soul Magic: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I've been a major Jennifer Lyon fan since BLOOD MAGIC came out. In this second book in the Wing Slayer series, Ms. Lyon weaves a spell of magic and romance with a knife's edge. Sutton West is most definitely Wing Slayer worthy and Carla Fisk is a witch to be reckoned with. This is a rich and satisfying read with no pat answers and no easy outs. Reading this book was hazardous for my sleep...I stayed up all night to finish it!

Jennifer Lyon writes stories that are sexy, funny, edgy mixed with an old world mysticism that is just captivating to read. I can't wait to read about her other characters from this character series. There is so much there to build on. I'm looking forward to reading more on the witches and the men who are drawn to them.
