Danny Wright's first album for Real Music has been a very happy surprise for me. 3.0 out of 5 stars Autumn Dreams is still my favorite
This collection seems to have taken Danny Wright to more flowery, higher pitch key strokes that may suit some but I prefer the reflective, resonant tones that eminated from Autumn Dreams or Shadows. The imagery that Mr. Wright captures through his compositions on Autumn Dreams seems as crisp as a Delicious Apple and is by far my favorite of his works to date.

Danny Wright's first album for Real Music has been a very happy surprise for me. I've been familiar with Wright's many collections of pop and show tunes, but I believe this is his first album of mostly original material. With cover arrangements of hit songs, it is often difficult for me to find the soul and real emotional content hiding under all the frills, trills, and arpeggios, so, until now, Wright hasn't been one of my favorite artists. That has suddenly changed, as the emotional power of the piano sings through this entire album. Eight of the eleven pieces are original, bringing a much warmer and more personal feel to this album than earlier releases. This could be the start of something great! Inspiration for the music came from varied sources ranging from the Texas tornado of 2000 to Barbra Streisand to the deaths of JFK, Jr. and Caroline and Lauren Bisset to the birth of a first grandson (a commissioned work). The opening track, "Angel Voices" was composed for "The Tornado Relief Fund", and is both melancholy and hopeful - the violins tug at the heartstrings. "Soul Mates" is dedicated to Barbra Streisand as a source of inspiration for all aspects of Wright's career. Delicate, yet very strong, this piece is a loving tribute that should touch anyone's heart. "The Water Is Wide" is a traditional spiritual that seems to be enjoying new-found popularity, and Wright's treatment is among the best with a lovely violin counterpart. "Keys to the Heart", Tender Moments", and "Everlasting Love" are heartfelt love songs, pure and simple. Composed in a minor key, "Loving You" is darker and bittersweet with a kind of classical Russian feel. "Everything Must Change" is a great arrangement that would have been even better as a solo piece - the synth strings are unnecessary with the emotional wallop of Wright's piano here. "Grayson's Lullaby" is a sweet introduction for a new life coming into the world - gentle and upbeat. "The Prayer" is also a lovely arrangement of a popular tune. "Together Forever" is in memory of the Kennedy/Bisset plane crash and the sudden sense of loss we all felt when we heard the news of this tragic event. Sad without being maudlin or melodramatic, the addition of ocean sounds at the beginning and end of the piece define it as being their song "forever". Danny Wright should find a whole new audience with this excellent album. His original pieces stand tall and strong among the well-known cover compositions, and I hope he and Real Music will continue to release his own work. Bravo and both thumbs up!

I am so glad I found this CD! I love piano music and after listening to this one over and over, I decided to order four more of his CD's. The Water is Wide certainly touchs my heart and soul. I have not received the other CD's yet, but I am sure this one has to be his best! TD

Solo piano, gently accented by strings. This CD is beautiful and relaxing. I'm a massage therapist and find it a great CD to play in the office. The only drawback is it's length - 41 minutes. I like CD's to be longer, but it's beautiful, nonetheless.

This is by far my favorite Danny Wright album. The songs are lighter and more emotional than his earlier works. I find myself listening to this album over and over not really sure when it has ended and begun anew. For people who like this album, check out the music of Silvard....

Music to help you get lost in the arms of someone you love. Candlelight, conversation, and this CD are all you will need... Danny Wright sets the mood like no other pianist/musician. His CD's are not just pretty music. They help you create musical memories.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Plus for Real Music, June 29, 2001

When I saw that this Danny Wright album was his debut album for the Real Music label I was delighted. He belongs with Real Music. This is another wonderful Danny Wright album, consisting primarily of his own compositions, with the exception of three tracks. Six tracks have been written for and dedicated to individuals by Danny.. The final track is written in memory of John F. Kennedy, Jr.,Caroline and Lauren Bisset. This album is perfect for a quiet time when you want to relax and, perhaps, dream. It fills you with the gentle peace that is so much a part of Danny Wright's music. This is a welcome addition to his previous albums.

I have listened and owned practically all of Danny Wright's albums. I especially love the songs he writes himself. This album contains many original songs and allows your mind to wander into spaces you only dream of. The first song: "Angel's Voices" and the 7th song: "Everything Must Change" are indicative of how tender, touching and romantic he makes you feel when listening to his music. He is by far my favorite piano player, and whenever I want to relax after beating my brains in at work, I put on one of his CD's. If you have ever loved, or lost at love, you will be touched by this man. Buy this album and give yourself a well deserved break.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly a relaxing experience!, June 19, 2001
This review is from: Soul Mates (Audio CD)
I am an avid fan of Danny Wright and own all of his music. This new addition was a surprise to me. I am a massage therapist and I found this selection to be one that I could use in my work. All of my clients have commented on how relaxing it is and what a peaceful presence it brings to the room. I highly recommend this album to anyone who enjoys relaxing, soothing piano music. Danny Wright brings a quality to his playing that makes me feel things inside. He's an under-rated genius at the piano. Thank you Danny, for this wonderful part of yourself that you have so humbly shared with all of us. I love it!

Soul MatesThis is a beautiful album; very relaxing and peaceful. It helps relax my son at bedtime. I probably have bought about 20 of these cd's already to give as gifts. Because of the name "Soul Mates" I like to give it as part of a wedding gift.
