The group's early 60s recordings have been reissued in recent times. This collection spotlights their subsequent more uptown sides for the Bang, Shout and RCA labels.
Bang and Shout were owned by genius songwriter Bert Berns, who produced the quartet's four singles for the labels, released in 1966 and 1967. These include their hit version of A Little Bit Of Soap and Weddings Make Me Cry, a Northern soul favorite of yore.
Not long after Berns' untimely death, The Exciters landed a new deal with RCA, where their recordings were overseen by another legendary producer, Larry Banks. Their spell at the label yielded another Northern pick, Blowing Up My Mind, plus the album Caviar & Chitlins.
Eagerly awaited by collectors, all but two of the tracks on Soul Motion are making their CD debut.

This review is from: Soul Motion - The Complete Bang, Shout And RCA Recordings 1966-1969 (Audio CD)
I recently purchased this cd and having been a big fan of The Exciters, I was very disappointed to find just a few tracks of significance, those being "A Little Bit of Soap" and "You Know It Ain't Right" - the more interesting! Nothing like their early material to make the heart and soul pound. Sorry, this contribution doesn't inspire me at all!
