Whoa,
By Jerald Gordon (Portsmouth, Ohio) - See all my reviews

This album is amazing. Woody didn't hold back when it comes to star power. Ranging from Men of Standard to Case to BBJay to Ruff Endz to Mary Mary to Dru Hill. Not to mention some others. This album has ballads and just smooth joints to listen to. It even has some jamming tracks on it. All I can say is Whoa. I mean this is definitely music for the soul. Cause what comes from the soul better than gospel music. This entire album is a testimony to how God delivered James "Woody Rock" Green out of a world of ... money and greed and opened his eyes to see the Light. A true man of God. How many people do you see give so much up and walk away. The money didn't make him happy the lying and the scheming didn't make him happy but he realized only what you do for Christ will last. This is his testimony.

Woody you did it. What a lovely tribute to your mom. She was a wonderful person i'm sure.I feel that you've found your calling. Now get back to the studio and do a handclapping ,footstompping , can't hold it in me, remix of "I Won't Complain"

This is an amazing testimony to what God can do through people. This is a complete turn around for Woody. I've always been a fan of his ever since I saw Dru Hill working and singing at the Fudgery in downtown Baltimore. The CD is amazing. The vocals are tight, and the message is clear. If I ever put out an album, I want it to minister the heart, the same way the Woody brings it. This is a very good album and I hope the album sales reflect that.

At first I was kind of disappointed when I read from other reviewers that Woody collaborated with some worldy artists for his debut album SOUL MUSIC but I must say that HE DOES NOT COMPROMISE THE MESSAGE OR THE QUALITY OF MUSIC.I am NO FAN of Dru Hill or Case but I believe that Woody has an honest heart and is truly blessed by God. The song "No Matter What" that feautres Case I one of my favourites and touched me and I didn't even know that Case was on it. I say that to say that somehow these guest artist do not in any way diminish the value of the music and they should consider themselves lucky to have been a part of good music. Woody ya did good and to the person who said that he has not left Dru Hill should listen to the words of his songs and read his thank you prayer in the cd booklet. Buy this CD for some GOOD OLD GOSPEL R&P , YOU WON'T REGRET IT

Before I Start I'd like to say I've always loved Dru Hill from the start, but when they started branchin out their own albums, you begin to see how talented they all really are and how they all pay a big role in Dru Hill. Woody's Soul Music CD was a big surprise to me, because it was so eclectic. It was Jazzy, then it was for young hip-hoppers, then down home gospel. Overall it was OUTSTANDING! I Love It! and Woody Rock I LOVE YOU!

It's a good cd overall. The only thing I dont like is the gospel rappers. He could have done better without them. But i definitely support the cd overall. It's a good grab.

I can appreciate what Woody Rock is trying to do. I appluad him wanting to record an inspirational album. Does he really need Case(Mr. Touch Me, Tease Me), Ruff Endz, and Dru Hill to do it? Another question is, has he really left Dru Hill? The answer is..he hasn't ... Some will agree, some will disagree that the Hot place-you know what I'm talking about- is paved with good intentions. And I'm not saying that that is where he is going. I'm saying that Dru Hill has not really broken up and he is still a part of that group. If he wasn't why would he record with them on this album? Most of you will probably say because they are still cool. They may still be cool, but they are still together as a group. Me personally, I have no desire to listen to Case, Dru Hill, and Ruff Endz sing inspirational soul music. It was a nice thought though. I just wasn't too thrilled with the project. Woody is a good singer. I will say that much about him. I just want him to pick one over the other. For those who like this project....sorry I had to be real...

Gospel at it's best if your looking for an R&B flavor,

I am the ultimate Dru Hill fan and when I came to God I struggled to find some gospel that I really really enjoyed, when I found this CD I was too excited. It really sounds like R&B that you would here on the radio but it's gospel. I give it 6 stars (out of 5). The way he incorporated all different singers, I just loved the CD, only a couple of tracks do I skip and sometimes depending on the mood I even listen to them. I would recommend this to anyone.

for all those who dislike the "gospel rappers", dont hate. the gospel gangstaz is a nice touch to the woody rock cd. the vocals on the song he did with marymary are especially tight. jus goes to show wat God can do and who/what he'll use/do to get the message of his love across.

I was surprised when I heard this cd. I was expecting to hear Dru Hill sing gospel. But Woody Rock has very strong gospel messages. He has a lot of featured artists on his Cd such as: Mary Mary, 2 G's, Dru hIll, BB Jay, and no doubt Dru Hill. I love most of the songs on this cd. This cd will be a great asset to your cd collection
