1.0 out of 5 stars Warmed-over hash with no new insights
Why was this book published? A great title with absolutely nothing new to add...a total waste of money and paper. If you want an over-intellectualized, academic summary of east-west thinking that is presented arrogantly with NO soul, have at it. This guy kept putting off friends who wanted him to write a book and he finally gave in. He should have listened to himself...

5.0 out of 5 stars A New New Testament, March 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Soul: An Owner's Manual--Discovering the Life of Fullness (Hardcover)
I am a retired United Methodist minister who has spent a lifetime studying, teaching, living the life of the Spirit.

Yet I was yearning for a modern road map to use in traveling into the greater unknown, unexplored areas of Kingdom living. George Jaidar's THE SOUL has all the signposts in place for guidance, direction, and light to arrive at one's Arete' or Fullness.

When reading it, I found myself saying inwardly, "yes," "right on," "of course," and "I have experienced that." The more times I read THE SOUL, the more depth of meaning comes to light. The sayings of Jesus become transparent and are made new.

THE SOUL is a new New Testament, and believe me, I do not say that lightly. It points to a new covenant with the Source. Jaidar has stated in a very clear, simple, accessible, and practical way what is hidden in the heart of the Gospel and in the Western mystic tradition. Its genius is its practicality--that if one practices the principles--one becomes aware of oneness with God, our Source.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Challenge To Those Who Have Reached The Limits, December 17, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Soul: An Owner's Manual--Discovering the Life of Fullness (Hardcover)
Looking for something with more substance than the entry-level inspiration of the CHICKEN SOUP books? Deeper than the plethora of books out there on the soul, which offer repackaged tradition and conventional wisdom?Joseph Chilton Pearce (CRACK IN THE COSMIC EGG, MAGICAL CHILD, EVOLUTION¹S END, etc.) wrote in the Foreword to this book, "For generations we have needed a new framework and lexicon for talking about the human spirit, and here it is. Everything that I (and others of similar bent) have written has only groped, at best, toward what is spelled out hereŠ." Truer words never written.George Jaidar offers a challenge to those of us who feel that impulse to something more there¹s just got to be something more in this life. This invitation is to those who have thoroughly explored and reached the limits of religion, philosophy, and sciencing. This book can take the thoughtful reader on one heck of a romp through what Jaidar calls the "mind process." Examining enculturation and the worldview that we¹ve all agreed upon as "reality," Jaidar traces how fear and hope are used to enforce allegiance to the reality we¹ve created. The fear process and the hope process are, as he writes, "the twin foundations of religion" not to mention the twin foundations of mental illness.Jaidar speaks to the Yearning that so many feel, that little inner nudging that keeps reminding us that there¹s got to be something more in this life. And then with a passion and beauty of writing style uncommon in philosophical discourses, Jaidar lays out a spiritual practice, that if adopted, can take the reader beyond the mind process, with all its limitations, and into the Soul process, where that "something more" is not only found, but becomes transformational.Jaidar frankly acknowledges that "This book was not written for a mass audience, but rather for a vanguard who will serve as a Œsaving remnant¹ of our species. These people quite uneasily know who they areŠ.." If you are one of those who has never been able to squelch the uneasiness, the itch for something more, this book was indeed written for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Graduate Studies of Spiritual Work, October 27, 1999

George Jaidar's book inspires, in those who are ready, a deeper experience of their own unique spiritual journey. I've bought the book for many like-minded friends, and we each have our own description of why and how it works. That's the beauty of it: it's not a one-size-fits-all remedy for what ails you. Rather, it's an invitation to recognize and commit to the uniqueness and beauty of yourself as experienced through the search for a life of fullness, or the soul. Heady stuff, yeah, but well worth the time and effort required to complete the book. Try it, you'll like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Next Step in Human Evolution, June 30, 1999

This review is from: The Soul: An Owner's Manual--Discovering the Life of Fullness (Hardcover)
Are you ready for the next step in human consciousness? You must not miss this before you grow old. If you don't become aware of your despair and then embrace it - then all you will end up with in later life is your despair! This book offers a way out, and is the only way that really works. It transformed my life, and it can do the same for anyone else who is really ready for transcendence.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE NEEDS TO BE READY FOR THIS BOOK, March 17, 2000
By
A Reader (Northwest, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Soul: An Owner's Manual--Discovering the Life of Fullness (Hardcover)
In checking back on reviews of some books I've loved over the years, I laughed aloud when I read "A reader from Santa Fe" 3/11/00 review of Jaidar's book. And my second reaction was sadness for that person.

Never was there a clearer example of the necessity of having the eyes to see and the ears to hear!

Readers, take a look at what some of our best thinkers and researchers in the fields of consciousness studies and spirituality have to say about this book:

Larry Dossey, M.D.: "All truly great and enduring spiritual documents are jewellike - luminously clear and radiant....Anyone who reads THE SOUL will have found a precious gem, a treasure of immense worth. This book is about the Great Constants - those insights that have changed lives throughout human history."

Joseph Chilton Pearce: "For generations we have needed a new framework and lexicon for talking about the human spirit, and HERE IT IS. Everything that I (and others of similar bent) have written has only groped, at best, toward what is spelled out here. With the power and assurance of personal knowing, rather than conjecture, and with an admirable simplicity and clarity of style, George Jaidar shares with us a revelation he experienced nearly a quarter of a century ago..."

Professor Charles Tart: "....George Jaidar's book is one of the clearest, most sensible guides I've seen to real development. I strongly recommend THE SOUL to those seriously interested in finding and growing that deeper self."

Read through the other reader reviews. Don't miss this book. For those who do have the eyes to see and the ears to hear, and who are ready, THE SOUL holds the keys to transformation - not just thinking about it, or reading about it - but actually living out this unfolding new mutation in human consciousness.

5.0 out of 5 stars An E-ticket ride to the tenth power and beyond., December 17, 1998
This review is from: The Soul: An Owner's Manual--Discovering the Life of Fullness (Hardcover)
I find it hard to constrain myself when writing about this book. Part of me wants to be cool so as not to turn anyone off with an over exuberance bordering on zealousness. But another part of me, the dominant part I suspect, wants to jump up and down and shout, "This is the best book I have ever read!" Furthermore, I believe it to be the most important book on the planet. Perhaps not for everyone, but if you are anywhere near where I was when I discovered this marvel, psychologically, philosophically and spiritually, then I believe you will come to share my enthusiasm for this great work. I had all, or most, of what goes for success in this world, but still an uneasiness persisted that couldn't be explained. What fulfilled most people did not fulfill me. When I found the material world wanting, I had a go at things spiritual, reading prodigiously, everything A through Zen. Although an improvement to be sure, still I thirsted for something more. Something vague and unexplainable. Then I was "lucky" enough to come across THE SOUL, AN OWNER'S MANUAL , by George Jaidar, which proved to be something new and completely different. Unlike most contemporary spiritual writings, his is not a derivative work, but something completely original. In these pages I found the entryway to the great adventure for which I had been yearning. Although Mr. Jaidar uses familiar words like God, soul, heaven, etc., he uses them quite differently than they have ever been used before. This difference may not be apparent upon the first reading, but I urge you to stay with it and try what is commended here for a time. I promise you the surprise of your life. An E-ticket ride to the tenth power and beyond. Unfortunately, this book is probably not for everyone. But for those of you who are ready, who have reached the limits of the "world of ten thousand things," and found the various spiritual offerings wanting. I can only say bon-appetite let the feast begin!

Larry Dossey, M.D. writes: All truly great and enduring spiritual documents are jewellike -- luminously clear and radiant. That is because truth is simple and uncomplicated. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Practical Guide to Spiritual Growth, October 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Soul: An Owner's Manual--Discovering the Life of Fullness (Hardcover)
Seldom do writers of spiritual treatises offer a practical way to follow one's bliss in order to attain as full a consciousness as possible. Jaidar's prose is as clear as his guidance is practical. This book is for anyone who chooses to envision life, not as an equation to be solved, but as a mystery to be fully lived.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN ADVENTURE INTO THE UNKNOWN, July 31, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Soul: An Owner's Manual--Discovering the Life of Fullness (Hardcover)
I am so grateful that George Jaidar has written THE SOUL, AN OWNER'S MANUAL. This book is for people like me who have found that all religion and therefore life, had lost its meaning. If you have the courage to embark on the journey into the unknown that he describes, rather than seeking the comfortably familiar, you will be delightfully astonished.

5.0 out of 5 stars HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT "IT"?, June 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Soul: An Owner's Manual--Discovering the Life of Fullness (Hardcover)
The "It" that drives you to discover the answers to those blasted questions that you have been looking everywhere to answer. I tried everything from hell, fire and brimstone to agnostic to metaphysical to practically extraterrestrial. These all left me empty. I just knew there was something more. Perhaps this is "it". I don't know for sure yet. I came to this with an open mind along with all the questions that had been driving me to a deeper and deeper feeling of emptiness. I can totally relate to Peggy Lee's song "Is that all there is?"

I have spent the past 6 months embracing and practicing the principles detailed in this book with the aid of the author as my guide. I am truly blessed by this. There are no words which can express the magnitude or depth of this wonderful book. Upon your first reading you will assume that you understand it and that you've already heard it all before. I encourage you to read this a second time. If you find you want to learn/experience more, then consider contacting the author. He's in the Ojai, California phone book.

I can honestly say that I am a far different person now than I was 6 months ago. The change has brought a fullness to my emptiness. George Jaidar has an insight worth exploring. As a health care professional, I am thrilled because his methodologies are scientifically compatible and I am making this journey by myself. There is no group. The Life of Fullness is an individual experience, an incredible journey that I have so longed for!
