5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful interpretations by Thomas Hampson, May 5, 2008
This review is from: To the Soul (The Poetry of Walt Whitman) - Thomas Hampson (Audio CD)
Thomas Hampson's haunting interpretation of Bernstein's "To What You Said" is simply beautiful. Beautiful poetry, beautiful music, beautiful singing. Mr. Hampson is a genius in this repertoire. I also recommend the video tape of "I Hear American Singing".

This review is from: To the Soul (The Poetry of Walt Whitman) - Thomas Hampson (Audio CD)
I heard Thomas Hampson sing Whitman's "The Wound Dresser" (music by John Adams) this past summer at the Grand Teton Music Festival and it was so wonderful I just had to buy this CD of other Whitman poems set to music. I'm just sorry the Adams piece is not on this CD and hope Hampson will record it at some time. But the songs and recitations that are recorded here are great and I love listening to them. Hampson has a terrific voice for this type of music. I highly recommend this CD.
