Bob Marley and The Wailers Legend Remixed Trailer

Biography

Bob Marley was a hero figure, in the classic mythological sense. His departure from this planet came at a point when his vision of One World, One Love -- inspired by his belief in Rastafari -- was beginning to be heard and felt. From memory this record also is out on trojan, but at the moment i own the JAD remasters one. If you like early reggae, wailers, rocksteady, or are a big bob marley and the wailers fan this cd is a must. This record is from the wailers upsetter days and is a classic. Sound quality for such old recordings is excellent. This is alot better if your after original tracks than the bootlegged versions you see in the shops for cheap with the soundquality of a gramophone. stand out tracks for me include

1.Soul rebel - This track confirms Aston Baretts status as one of the best reggae bassists of all time, the bass line is incredible, this is back in the late 60's early 70's, so imagine how good he is now!,

5. My Cup- a well done cover of james browns song 'ive got to cry, cry, cry', bobs vocals ar as always, tops on this track as is bunny and peters backing.

10. no water - what can i say? a great track, very funky and a great track to listen to, i like bunnys funky backing too,

11. Reaction, starts off with that upsetter sound, a good solid rhythm, in which bobs soulful vocals drift over the top of, with bunny and petes backing vocals the icing on the cake. and lastly the bonus track

13. jah is mighty - a rare track, a good rhythm, with some of the classic lyrics off 'corner stone' combined with fresh lyrics ' behold jah is mighty', bobs outstanding on this track in praise of jah.

overall this is a great cd, im especially pleased that on this cd its got the classic tracks which i was after, with great sound quality which is a change!, an excellent buy for early wailers fans for sure, 5 STARS!

I was ferreting through the CDs in a rancid downtown CD shop, and took out a Don Carlos box in amongst others. When it came to the Don Carlos album I could not believe what I was hearing, and thought that it must have been very, very early Don Carlos. However, I fell in love with it immediately, and could pick up influences of American soul etc. When I came to paying for the Don Carlos album, it turned out to be Soul Rebels by Bob Marley & The Wailers. I laughed at myself, but was delighted to have discovered this little gem! How different it sounds compared to later Bob Marley, but how very interesting it is to see where the later reggae came from. I really love this album, and it is also remastered nicely with two bonus tracks. And then, of course, there is that outrageous album cover (picture this in the 60s! HaHa, I love it!). So, I highly recommend this, and give it 4 stars only because it simply can't get the 5 stars that Legend is worth. To add to my delight, the album was on sale for a mere 3$. The Gods must be crazy.
