5.0 out of 5 stars ronnie is the earl of guitar, April 5, 2008

this cd starts out with one of the best ronnie instrumentals - backstroke. it is hot, great riffs, jumping right in. it also sets the tone for this smoking cd. ronnie is one of the best, and when he focuses on the blues there aren't too many that can touch him. ronnie tosses in tasty instrumentals. all tracks - great! add it and enjoy it, again and and again.

Hooray for HepCat for creating brand new editions of Ronnie Earl's early discography with the Broadcasters! I am very satisfied with the quality of the disc and the beautiful packaging, including current reviews added to the original liner notes. This purchase has exceeded my expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars None Better Than Ronnie Earl!, May 29, 2002

There are few guitarists that play with the intensity of Ronnie Earl and that could not be more evident than on this release. Even the slow burners "Blues For Bone" and "Sufferin'" are full of outstanding riffs played straight from the heart. Couple that with the addition of harp player Jerry Portnoy who served up a six year stint in the Muddy Water's band and the soulful vocals of Darrell Nulisch and you have all of the ingredients for a really good blues CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ronnie Earl and The Broadcasters at their legendary best!, October 28, 2011
This review is from: Soul Searching (Audio CD)
In the early 1980's I saw this amazing band called Roomful of Blues, which was an amalgam of phenomenal vocalists and musicians. The one person who soared above the rest of the band though was Mr. Intensity himself, Ronnie Earl. His smooth and effortless riff,on "Lets Ride" was epic, like Jimi Hendrix's Machine Gun on New Years Eve 1969 was epic. When Ronnie Earl, set out on his own with the Broadcasters, the steel hardened playing of Mr. Earl's just exploded on the Blues Scene. Soul Searching is like the Mona Lisa of East Coast Blues. Each song is perfect in it's own way. The vocals, and musicianship is as good as it gets. This is the type of album/CD that you make a copy of it and keep the master pristine for eternity. It is that good! It is almost impossible to choose the best cut on the album, but for me it has to be It's My Soul. It's My Soul, taps into your very being, and will not let you go. There is no need to be indecisive about purchasing this CD, for it is one that you will be listening to on your death bed.

Ronnie is on of those musicians who, while you may not hear a lot about him, you should!!! these tracks are really nice. It's my first exposure to Ronnie Earl, and boy have I been missing out. If you like electric blues with a jazzy feel this is a great CD. A very underrated guy.
