I am a longtime reader of fantasy and science-fiction, and this is a favorite book. I am glad to see it in print again. The heroine is a strong yet humble woman, a soul-singer who keeps the rulers of the land honest. There are three strong heroines in this novel, and they battle an alien presence, helped by the mysterious and shadowy gods of their world. The language and descriptions are wonderful, the story engrossing, and the theme uplifting.
