Soul Sisters is an urban fantasy novel about African-American twin sisters Ani and Dana who have a rather unique secret: one sister is human while the other is a vampire. While the sisters have lived peacefully with each other for many years one fateful night will change both their lives forever. When a drunken man tries to attack Dana (the human sister) Ani (the vampire sister) protects her sister with all of her ferocious power.

However, when the vampire’s leader Donovan finds out about the public display he calls for the sisters to be assassinated for disobedience. Ani and Dana now are in for the fight of their lives to protect each other as well as the lives of their dedicated friends who have joined them on their mission for survival. If Dana and Ani can make it through this time of uncertainty, Ani can take her new place as vampire queen. Soul Sisters is expected to be a trilogy; The book also features a multicultural cast of characters that brings a new edge of chic to the vampire world.
***Praise For Soul Sisters***
I have read so many vampire novels but Ms. Eldridge’s idea of the soul sister was nice and fresh. I also liked how the author included several cultures in her story; I thought that was a good idea because you do not see this done often. Urban Fantasy and Paranormal lovers should definitely give “Soul Sisters” a chance!

Soul Sisters pulled at my heart on several levels love vs. sisterhood, life and death, obedience vs. disobedience and light and darkness. The story moved from two different worlds and time periods, but not once is the reader left wondering where they are. The conflicts can cause a reader to stop only for a second to breath that's just how emotional the story can get at times.

Of course, I loved that the sisters were African American. You almost never see that in these kind of books. I also liked there wasn't a love triangle. I'm kind of sick of that. It was more about the bond between the sisters, which is very real and really cool....

4.0 out of 5 stars Soul Sisters Review- lameciacreviews@gmail.com June 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Rating: 4.5
I REALLY LOVED this book! It's so FRESH and ORIGINAL!! I received this book from the because I will be doing a blog tour for this book towards the end of the month(June) so make sure you look out for the dates, it's going to be GREAT!This book tells the story of twins, Dana and Ani. They aren't actually twins but they are but they are in fact sisters by Dana's soul and they just happen to look exactly alike(Isn't sounding GREAT already?). If this isn't making any sense then you should read this book to see how this unique scenario plays out. Well Dana is a Human and Ani is a VAMPIRE. Ani is EXTREMELY protective of Dana and can get a little out of control when it comes to her. Ani has a maker and he is has decided that Ani should be killed for her reckless behavior that could out the vampire community. If Ani dies then Dana dies too and Ani is NOT having that.I don't want to give away any spoilers because this book is worth reading! The characters were so intriguing and I wanted to read more about them, I loved the relationship between the twins and the bickering between them was always FUN to read about. The intensity is there throughout the book which keep me turning the page/screen(kindle :). In this book you will find out what happens on the twins journey and who they meet along the way are quite interesting. I recommend this book for anyone to read, it is fun and a good read. I read this book way to fast and I miss the characters already :( Thank you to Janiera for giving me the opportunity to read your book and letting me find out what is really going on in that head of your in a good way ;)Thanks for listening!

2.0 out of 5 stars Review by Jeep Diva blog July 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
* Thank you to the author, Janiera Eldridge, for allowing me to be a Early Reviewer on the JeepDiva Blog [...] *

AUTHOR: Soul Sister is Janiera's first published book. In my opinion, Janiera has the potential of someday becoming a great author. At this time, "in my opinion", she has some improvements to make in providing her written work with the right balance of dialogue, action and adventure and details of events...."in my opinion".

GENRE: Paranormal, Fiction, Contemporary fiction, Multicultural fiction, Urban fiction, Fantasy fiction

SETTING:
Harlem, New York to Europe and back to New York. Switches back and force between Modern Day and the 13th century

CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: Twin sisters but only one is a vampire. The other twin however, has lived for as many years as her vampire sister.

CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: For centuries he has always made it possible for people to live beyond their time. He can provide for them the riches of life should they so desire. The problem? He demands something from them that that money cannot buy.

SYNOPSIS: She married the man of her dreams. His life suddenly ended but her twin sister ensured that she would always be with her. She would always be her protector.

PARANORMAL: How does one live with a twin and yet that twin has a different need in order to survive?

CONTEMPORARY fiction: This book is not so much "romance" as it is "contemporary paranormal". The major setting takes place in the modern day century. Spurts of having relationships is included but not the main thrust.

WHAT I LIKED: Actions starts towards the end of the book and leads to a cliff hanger. Whoa!

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: While it is a great story overall, the book lacks depth. It does not pull the reader into the storyline. It is written with basic events occurring with very little detail description of moods, character and facial expressions. As an example, what was the shape of their eyes and mouth; were her teeth white and elongated as she saw the pulse beating in his neck; what was the reaction of the victim, did he scream; what did the door sound like as it opened, did it creak open?

Unfortunately this book gets (2) vrooms out of (5) Jeep Diva blog vrooms. The engine started but the tires would not roll. [...]

WHY (2 ) STARS: Lacks depth. Reader is just dropped into one scene after the other.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! May 31, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Light-years better than the Twilight Saga series. Characters with a real personality and not only this but also ones that each of us can relate too. Another thing I must highlight is the fact that Eldridge doesn't make her characters fit the mould but rather opens up a new realm - coloured characters and this is a new/fresh and fantastic thing to see hero's and heroine's with a different backgrounds to the otherwise typical and over-represented characters.

The journey the characters and that we the reader go through isn't a light everything is going to be alright one. There is a real serious threat at the core of this novel, there is real fear and raw emotions/passions - strain underlining the feelings of the character which very precisely border on what real life emotions are like. Eldridge does don't shy away from exposing what is at the heart of her characters whether that is their lust/desire, their anger or the everyday battle that takes place within their soul and the transgression between these is an eloquently one.

A novel with a gripping plot and the 2 interlinked time periods create tension and mystery. It stirs up our emotions and really makes us feel. There are moments that parallel with real life situations and emotions throughout this book which will really move you, you have to be a rock for it not to do so! I'd hardly ever cry at a book but there were points I was crying on the inside- I'm not going to include any spoilers. There were moments when my heart panged gleefully with joy and when my heart shrivelled with confusion, pain and anger. Moments of happiness and sadness are mixed together in a blending pot; moments where emotions spill into one another and just like in Shakespeare's play's a tense scene is followed by a anti-tension/comic scene - however there is no comedy here!

Let me tell you this before hand readers - you can't run away from that fact that there is A LOT of tensio in this novel whether it is in that scenario of life vs death, sisterhood or love. I wanted both to get to the end to find out what happens and at the same time I didn't want it to end because I would have to part with the character which I had become attached to and fallen in love with.

Furthermore, the bound that exists between the sisters is a powerful one - that really strikes the reader at the core of the heart. I know it did this to me. I was fascinated at how real their relationship was and how the novel reveals to us the very building blocks of this and the way it moves us through their plight/journey as sisters.

The powerful force of conflict that exists is something that I can't describe to you because it is something you have to personally experience by yourself. Consider yourselves warned when I say that it will consume you - it will split you - on who to root for, who to hate and who to aim your anger/frustration at. You will struggle to pick whose side you will be on!

If you don't read this novel then you are missing on a really fantastic read and that's a real shame because something like this magnificent master piece shouldn't be ignored/side-lined for the typical, main stream,hyped-up works of vampire fiction like the Twilight Series or The Vampire Dairies - I have read those yet this is simply in a league of its own.
