Although not very well known, Bennie Green deserves to be. He could do the upbeat, stompin', fun thing ("We Wanna Cook"), but he is at his best with his searching, tender playing. Listen to the heartbreaking "Lullaby of the Doomed" and try not to be moved. And then listen to the best rendition of "That's All" that you will probably ever hear. But get it fast. I am pretty sure that there are only limited numbers of this disk left. A shame, but typical of the lack of knowledge of and interest in one of the great trombone players of his or any era.
