This CD shows a lot of Soul from Miss Jones, her voice was so pretty and strong, if you are a fan of Linda you will love this cd, I play this cd all the time, I wish it had more of her songs on this cd, I really miss Linda, if she was still alive, she would be a Superstar like: Miss Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle, Mary J, and Maraha Carey, I hope they do another cd with Linda Jones, I can never get enough of her sweet soul sound, so Linda Jones fans, make sure you buy this cd because it is really soulful, Thank you Linda Jones for the short time you were here on earth I will always love you and your music will live on in my heart, I miss you so much, I wish I had went too see you when you came to Dayton, Ohio, but I went somewhere else, and said Linda will be back to Dayton again, but too my surprise she passed away a year or two later, I was so mad I didn't go see her, they said she put on a great show, so my friends go see your favorite singer when they come to town, because you never know, that may be your last chance, nobody knows when your days on this earth is near. I hope her family will put out another cd soon, I love you Linda Jones and miss you very much, I know you are up in heaven singing for God, he needed you more.

One could say that Linda Jones put the "S' in Soul, and the "R" in R&B. Her big hit in 1967 was "Hypnotized" which charted #4 on Billboard's R&B and #21 on Hot 100, and remained on the charts for 4 months. "Soul Talking" was put together by her daughter, Terry Jones, and it is greatly appreciated by old school fans of Linda Jones because it provides another opportunity for new listenrs to check out the soulful way Linda tells a story through song.

The CD opens with a brief inro called "Soul Talking" which makes you feel like you are at a live concert and plays right into the high energy, pulsating "Cheated," which is my number one favorite on this cd. "Baby I Know" is a nice soulful, melodic song that is pure Linda, and is followed by a brief interlude from a session while recording "Hypnotized". The pleading, catchy "Can I Dig It" has great harmony and shows Linda's how Linda was able to take a simple song and make it major. "Linda's Slow Minute 2 Jam" reminds me slightly of Jill Scott; it's clear that Linda set the tone for what we currently refer to as neo-soul.

Linda's approach to "Miss New" makes you feel like she is singing just to you and knows your pain only too well because she's been through it all herself, once , twice or maybe more. "Sway Me" is a song that speaks for itself with simple lyrics, good insturmentals and full of passion. The CD closes with Linda's heart wrenching "Things I've Been Through," which also appears on "Linda Jones: Hypnotized- Golden Classic Edition," and will have you on your knees realizing that whatever pain you've been through in life, you are not alone.

For those familiar with Linda Jones this CD will make a great addition to your collection because it offers a few songs that do not appear on her "Golden Classics Edition" CD, along with the intros and the takes done in the reording studio. And if you have not heard Linda Jones sing before this will be a great introduction to hear an artist sing with a voice, full of passion, range and emotion; something that quite a few present day R&B/Soul artists seem to be unable to deliver.

Although Linda Jones passed away at the tender age of 27, her "full of life" voice will be remembered forever!!
