Book Description

September 1, 1998
In this fascinating volume, you will read the story of one man's ability to travel beyond the physical plane of existence in search of the "Ultimate Truth" in this world...and the next. From an early age, Albert Taylor experienced bouts of almost death-like paralysis which were accompanied by extraordinarily lucid and realistic dreams. His grandmother called them "Witch Rides. " As he grew older and learned more about his gift, these Witch Rides progressed in strength and scope to eventually become full-fledged out-of-body experiences. Gradually, Albert found himself able to "fly" with his mind to distant places, breaking the boundaries of this world, and encountering spirits beyond. Engineer, scientist, and artist, Albert Taylor relates his research and knowledge with great insight and humor. He tells us how these paranormal events have affected his life, how anyone can have an out-of-body experience...and even learn to consciously control their "Soul Travels!"

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Albert Taylor gives us his honest and very personal account of how he escaped his nightly fears of sleep paralysis to soar consciously through the astral plane. Some call this astral travel, or an out-of-body experience, but Taylor calls it "soul travel." His term eloquently embodies his philosophy that we are actually powerful, spiritual beings in the midst of a human experience, rather than human beings having minor spiritual experiences. Despite Taylor's background as a NASA engineer, Soul Traveler is far from a technical manual. Reading it is like having an engaging conversation about astral travel with a friend. Along with some simple advice for inducing and controlling our own out-of-body experiences, Taylor shares the encouraging insights about the spiritual nature of human beings that he has gleaned from a remarkable experience he once viewed as an affliction. --Brian Patterson

From Publishers Weekly

It's hard to simply dismiss an aeronautical engineer who spent two decades with the NASA space program when he writes of his extensive paranormal experiences. After intermittently entering a "paralysis state" (beginning at age four) in which he can hear and see but not move, Taylor claims to have realized over the years that this state is "the personal doorway to the ultimate truth." From there, Taylor has moved on to lucid dreaming, where he can control and change his mind's wanderings and perform gravity-defying feats like flying. He coined the term "soul traveler" to explain these out-of-body experiences, proposing that when the body falls asleep, "the soul mind comes to the forefront of consciousness." He tracks these phenomena in journal entries that document his increasing abilities, peppering his account with references to the literature on the paranormal and with speculation on the religious import of his travels. Self-published in 1996, this slim book has managed to vault itself onto the shelves, but those flipping through and coming upon its "Arcs of Spiritual Evolution" or "Preflight Preparations" will be unlikely to take it further. 5.0 out of 5 stars Very good for the novice and the experienced OBE'r, September 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Soul Traveler: A Guide to Out-of-Body Experiences and the Wonders Beyond (Hardcover)
I am on my 61st year of soul travel and I still found Al Taylors book full of good input for both the novice and the experienced OBE'r. What I particularly enjoyed was his simple direct approach that gave most of the information in 1 hour that I had to read for weeks to obtain from Jane Roberts, Robert Monroe etc although I did really find Monroes books to be very very interesting and helpful. Al Taylors book gets down to practicalities QUICK and did give me a few pointers I had not uncovered. Very enlightening and enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Excellent Book ! You won't be sorry you bought it !, June 2, 1999
This review is from: Soul Traveler: A Guide to Out-of-Body Experiences and the Wonders Beyond (Hardcover)
Dr.Taylor puts forth an informative, intelligent and easy to read book on this controversial subject. He does not bore us with all the "new age jargon" or "arrogant ramblings" that most authors do on Astral Travel. He is straightforward, honest, and "down to earth" (no pun intended). I found his experiences have helped me immensely in my own quest to soul travel. His background as a NASA Engineer only gives more validity to his writings. If you want a book that is complicated, overly technical, and slathering in arrogance this is NOT the one. If you want a book that is easily understood, interesting, excellently written, with a little humor, THIS IS DEFINITELY THE BOOK. I read this book in one sitting. Excellent Job Dr. Taylor!

5.0 out of 5 stars Praise for Soul Traveler, December 25, 1998
This review is from: Soul Traveler: A Guide to Out-of-Body Experiences and the Wonders Beyond (Hardcover)
I have been interested in achieving astral travel for several years now, and I've read more than one book on the subject(with no success). Dr. Taylor's is the first I've come across that approachs the subject in such an open, friendly, and personal way. Soul Traveler is the first to really consider the "fear factor." Taylor speaks as one friend to another, instead of like a teacher to a roomful of students. I found his personal accounts of astral travel so reassuring. I want to thank you Dr. Taylor, most sincerely for sharing your experiences. You have renewed my hope. Dr. Taylor is a fine example of being extraordinary yet down to earth and uncomplicated in a world that can be ordinary yet increasingly complicated.
