5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful
wow! this tape really shocked me. i didn't buy it when it first came out, because i thought it was going to be a typical tired r&b tape. but i listened to it at a friend's house, then i went right out & bought it. kelly should be crowned the next queen of r&b. she has one of the most beautiful voices ever. there isn't a dissapointing song on the whole album...

3.0 out of 5 stars The next Queen of R&B
Kelly Price has achieved alot by singing with artists that have been out longer, for her to be new in the music world. I love her duet with Whitney Houston and Faith Evans on "Heartbreak Hotel." She may be another Queen of Soul.

4.0 out of 5 stars kelly price one soulful woman., January 14, 1999
This review is from: Soul of a Woman (Audio CD)
while record labels have made much of kelly price's vuluptuous figure, they'd do better to shut their eyes (and their mouths) and just listen. it seems that, lately, every female that releases an album is touted as the next great diva, but few of them have the lungs to back up the advance praise. furthermore, while price's album boasts its fair share of torch songs, she doesn't come off the least bit victimized; rather, she exudes an elegance that is far too often missing from today's artists. not only is price's album an exposé on the soul of a woman, but it also loosely follows a romantic narrative. from the betrayal of "friend of mine" to the attempted reconciliation of "soul of a woman" to the confrontation of "friend of mine (remix)", price tells a story with which listeners are sure to identify. also a talented songwriter and producer, price can count among her competition everybody from former employer mariah carey to andrea martin, knowing that she's got what it takes to hold her own.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is Soul! .......Kelly brings it to you in Full!, November 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Soul of a Woman (Audio CD)
This cd from Kelly price is tight. The tight harmonies, beats and soulful singing will kepp u humming and pressing rewind all day. A lot of singers are starting to come out from the background who were either doing back up or producing like....(Deborah Cox-(Celine Dion)),(Kelly P-(Mariah)), etc.. To me her best cut I ever heard her sing besides "friend of mine"...(and her most soulful) is the song she did on the "life" soundtrack. If you haven't heard it...it's worth getting just for that song.

I heard she should be coming out with another one soon...If so ......I'll be the first to get it.

Don't hesitate on getting this...If you want a true sample of 90's soul...Check out Kelly Price!

5.0 out of 5 stars This girl can sure SAAANG! on this debut!, October 18, 2004
This review is from: Soul of a Woman (Audio CD)
When Friend of Mine came on the airwaves on the radio in 1998, I went, Lord this girl can SAAAANG! It's going straight to Number One! And it sure did! It set the tone for Kelly Price's first album! All throughout, this is wonderful first album she made. Songs like Her, You Complete Me, Lord Of All, and the Friend of Mine remix with Ronald Isley were all superb. Her next two albums are also superb and I still love them too! She's a superb songwriter too and I still love the songs she has contributed or sang on other artists' songs like P Diddy and Mase. She was brillant as a background singer in Mariah Carey's touring band. This is a superb debut in its own right, soulful for a late '90s album in an era of technology and slickly-produced, sample-heavy, hip-hop beats-heavy albums. She recalls a more classic era too.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Girl Can Sing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, August 29, 2000

This is pure soul at it's finest!! Kelly Price may be one of the best singers ever. Her voice is so complete that it's almost scary. You can feel the emotion in every note she breathes. My favorite song by far is You Complete Me. The rest of the CD is great, but that track outshined the others in my opinion. Both versions of Friend of Mine are spectacular!! Who better to have on the remix than R. Kelly himself?? This album is definitely worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars not suprised, February 26, 2000

This review is from: Soul of a Woman (Audio CD)
i was definetly not suprised, by the content on the album entitled Soul of A Woman by Kelly Price, because i knew that kelly was an excellent singer. i love this album so much, kelly is a beautiful & talented young lady and the album shows it. i love every song, and every second of the album. my favorite song is "take me to a dream", but i also really like "kiss test", "you compelet me" (featuring 112's Daron Jones), "soul of a woman", "your love" (featuring Lil' Cease), "lord of all", and "friend of mine" [remix] (featuring Mr. Biggs & R. Kelly). i can't wait for kelly price's second album to come out, if she decides to make one. i never heard an album this good, except for my favorite album of all time Keep the Faith by Faith Evans, & Unleash the Dragon by Sisqo. good luck in the future kelly, we are all ruting you on.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! This album is unlike anthing I have ever heard. Kelly managed to put her SOUL in CD form. Many other artists have tried, yet I dont think did it like Kelly did. I just recently bought the CD and I found myself wondering why I had not done it sooner. My favorite song is "You Complete Me" and because of Kelly's great talent, I now feel complete. You are the GREATEST!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Soul Of her voice!!!, November 3, 2011
This review is from: Soul of a Woman (Audio CD)
I remember this album when I was in the 6th grade. This woman can really sing. This is an extraordinary, primarily self-composed album. This album delves deep into the collective heart, soul and mindset of the female gender, while leaving much of the feminine mystique intact. Her pure soul voice is an emotional cauldron, boiling over with innovative power and primal passion. Every word, note and nuance of this album are delivered with attention to quality and detail as well as to entertainment aesthetics. A serious listen leaves no doubt that she is a brilliant singer and songwriter, whose inspired images and full tilt performances paint poignant portraits of love's many sides. This album has been certified Platinum. Remember, this was 1998-1999.
