VINTAGE HEZEKIAH WALKER!,
By Kevin L. Betton Jr. "Total Praise Choir Master" (Carlisle, PA - Yeah I never heard of it either!) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Souled Out (Audio CD)
I have listened to this entire album several times and I absolutely LOVE IT! Choirs all over the world will be singing these songs very soon. I don't know what's not to like, and personally I was very surprised reading the first 4 reviewers. Complaining about the lack of modulations is kinda petty when there are several inversions in the songs on this album. I must say, Pastor Hezekiah has more ministering songs than I can remember on this album.
There are really no songs that are just "churchy", and all of them seem to minister to the Spirit very well. I am in love with "Moving Forward" - a song I think is more suited for a Praise Team. I heard a praise team in B-more minister this about 3 months ago, and Tye Tribbett simply ROCKED it when he added adlibs at the end. Alot of people are gonna sleep on this song... "You're All I Need" is such a beautiful song and has an impeccable flow to it. "Souled Out", "All Of My Help", "O Give Thanks", and "Keep On Moving On" are going to be choir director favorites and will probably be the first songs to be sung by local choirs. Jules Bartholomew's "God Favored Me" is a truly unflawed song and I think one of albums best! Lastly I can't figure out the point in putting "It Shall Come To Pass" on this album when the same song was on "Live In London"?!?!? Overall, I can't find any flaws with the album, it is vintage Hezekiah Walker and choir/music lovers will absolutely love it. You can put this CD in your deck or iPod and just jam all the way through. Great job on this album Pastor Hezekiah...I love it!

Something New For Hez five stellar awards though!,
This review is from: Souled Out (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of Hezekiah Walker for many years and was in love with the last album 20/85 the experience. I don't really understand the first couple of reviews either because people were saying the same thing about 20/85 when it was released and it still did very well."Souled out" and "God favored me" are my two favorites that i listen to the most, of course loving Marvin sapp to i would have like to hear him and Hez sing a little more. This album is a little different for hez because there are a few more ballads and worship songs. What anyone needs to understand before writing a review is that gospel music is constantly changing and just like everyone else hez had to change a little bit.Hezekiah Walker and Ricky Dillard are the only ones really keeping choir music alive so i totally understand the concept of the album. One thing you cannot doubt about hez is that he still makes songs the make you get up and dance but over the last few years he's deliver some songs that grab your attention like " I need you to survive" "faithful is our God" and "Grateful" won five stellar awards recently should have got a grammy
