Last time I read a good YA book was an Indiana Jones series I read in my late teens. Well, now I'm a 37-year-old completely drawn inside the world of Sandpoint, Idaho. I can't wait for the paperback copies to be ready. I have a niece's birthday coming up and I believe this to be the perfect gift for a 15-year-old.
So, let's outline why I like it:
The characters are real and engaging. You see the dynamic in this group of teenagers very much like any high school scene. Some of it you may be nodding to yourself for having experienced it firsthand.
The paranormal action was intense. It was reminiscent of Star Wars, but a little scary like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Strangely I even found myself feeling empathy for the lost soul at one point in the book.
And the flow of the book was amazing. What with the interruptions of working full-time and taking care of twin 5-year-olds, I managed to finish this book in a little over a 24-hour period. Well, a part of that could have been the intensity toward the end.
Great book! I hope there is a sequel. Ok, I'm really hoping for more than one sequel...more than a trilogy.

I haven't read a book in some time that has kept my attention like this one, mostly because I can't sit still long enough to do so. But this book, I couldn't put down! I loved the suspense, the characters were familiar to me, could have been friends from high school, or my own kids, so I was immediately connected. I found myself reading during any spare minute trying to learn more about soul possession and wanting to read more about the setting, Sandpoint, Idaho. The foreshadowing of intense circumstances between the main characters Maxim and Seth, kept me curiously reading and the implementation of Alex, whom I'm hope shows up in a sequel to Souled, kept the plot moving. This is definitely a book that will keep a teenager's attention and I think is even appropriate for preteens, as I was talking it up big time with my 12 year old niece. As a forty-something reader, I was glued! But I will recommend AGAIN, by the same author for readers in my age group. Another "can't put down" read!

This book isn't typically the type that I pick up, BUT I couldn't put it down! The author does an amazing job characterizing Seth and Dani, and as a reader, you're rooting for them from the very beginning.
Without giving too much away...
By the end, I couldn't 'click' the pages fast enough. Gripping and intense.
A YA read, but I recommend for all.
Pick this one up when it's released, you'll be glad you did.

Quite possibly the best YA I've read in a long time. I loved the change in POV from Seth, who is experiencing the worst demon possession a teenager could have, to his girlfriend Dani at the half-way point. We start out knowing, at least in part, who the demon is and how he's manipulating his host and then suddenly it's all taken away in the shift from Seth to Dani, which leaves us wondering exactly what the demon's fully realized plan would be. It was like knowing there was a ticking bomb somewhere in the building and knowing it would explode in a very short time, but having no idea where it was. Loved it.

Disclaimer: I edited this book. (So yes, you can blame me for typos.) Before I agreed to work on it, though, I asked to read it first. The author is an acquaintance of mine, and I was concerned that it might be amateurish, and I would have to let her down easy.

To say I was pleasantly surprised would be a vast understatement. I truly couldn't put it down.

The plot is original and surprising. The characters are fleshed-out and distinctive. Most important to me, it was NOT predictable. God, I hate that. I hate figuring out the ending of a book halfway through.

I have gone from "editor" to "stalker-fan" and am constantly begging her to read chapters of the sequel. I can't wait to see how this all turns out.

Diana Murdock is one of my favourite authors. A year or so back, I read her first book, `Again'. It has haunted me ever since. This new book is no different. I read it a few months ago and yet again, I can't get it out of my mind. The plot is genius, unique, full of suspense and the characters are fascinating, realistic and very easy to associate with. This, in itself, makes for an awesome book; but there is something else that makes Diana's work extra special - and that is quite simply the heart and soul with which she writes. There is power in her words that sucks you into the world of her story and locks your mind on the tale she has to tell. Ms Murdock is an incredibly talented author and I shall be buying this book in paperback for my daughter who also happens to be a Diana Murdock fan. Diana, thank you for sharing this story with your readers, I've said it before and I'll say it again. You absolutely rock.

When you pick up this book to read, make sure you don't have a pressing appointment on the horizon or supper on the stove. It captured my attention and all I wanted to do was read, read, read. If you buy this book you will not be disappointed. It's well written, suspenseful and it's easy to get to know the characters from the start which every good story does for us. Enjoy!
