Logic would dictate that if Aaron Neville can't make it a soulful Christmas, nobody can. Neville's one of the only mere mortals who can actually deliver on the old saw about having a voice so sweet he could sing the phone book. Problem is that Neville, who is notorious for making the wrong career choices, probably would sing the phone book if someone signed the check. Consequently, even though he includes the typical standards on Soulful Christmas, they still ring true with his magical voice. "Such a Night" and "Louisiana Christmas Day," however, stand out with soul and are required additions to any funky holiday party mix. --Michael Ruby

When i first heard this christmas album I was blown away by the sheer beauty and brillance of this man's voice. It sends chills up my spine to hear him sing these christmas classics...1. Please Come Home for Christmas 2. O Holy Night 3. Christmas Song 4. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! 5. White Christmas 6. Such a Night ..a elvis song made into a christmas song..how fun! 7. O Little Town of Bethlehem 8. Silent Night 9. Louisiana Christmas Day 10. Star Carol 11. Bells of St. Mary's Incredible! 5 stars ***** two thumbs up!

An Angelic Voice for the Holidays,

From the opening strains of Charles Brown's "Please Come Home For Christmas" you know you're in for a treat as Aaron Neville turns it up a notch for this collection! The musical arrangements are also great, and the interesting re-working of "Such A Night" indeed turns it into a Christmas Classic!A nice combination of traditional hymns and carols , as well as the more popular holiday fare. The voice is the difference here, and it makes for on of my new holiday traditions!

I really look forward to this album for the holidays, definitely one of our favorites. That voice and a good collection of songs, including zydeco, give this CD a unique spot in our Christmas collection. From the first quietly chiming bells, I'm hooked.
