An awesome new smooth jazz guitar release, January 20, 2004
This review is from: Soulidified (Dig) (Audio CD)
This is an excellent CD by one of today's most talented guitarists. Richard Smith breathes new refreshing sounds with his guitar into today's smooth jazz scene, at a time when it is really needed. This album took me back to the 80's, when smooth jazz was just at its inception and full of so many new creative artists and sounds. The tracks on this CD cover a wide range of styles. Richard's guitar-playing is accessible, yet talented and unique. Included is a tasty version of Earth Wind and Fire's "Sing A Song." The sound quality is superb, and is accompanied by many of today's top smooth jazz players, including Jeff Lorber, Jeff Kashiwa, Brian Bromberg, and Freddie Ravel. I remember seeing Richard play live many times years ago while he was a part of sax player Richard Eliot's band. Hopefully this solo effort by him will receive considerable airplay on radio stations, revealing his talent to music listeners, and bringing the success he deserves.

Good smooth jazz, April 10, 2004

A worthy effort. Not quite as musically satisfying as his earlier work however. And, certainly not up to the energy of his live performances...a buy recommendation nevertheless!
