4.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting and Meditative, March 5, 2000

I was first intoduced to this CD in a yoga class~ perfect music for that! Lots of drums and new-agey twists, the Cantor's voice is amazing. This is very spiritual and very alive. Great music to wake up with or have other peaceful time with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kabala you can dance to, November 30, 2004
This review is from: Souls on Fire - Music for the Kabbala (Audio CD)
While there are a number of Kabalistic prayer songs (Lkha Dodi being the archetype, as well as any song based on Shir HaShirim), few are so obviously Kabalist in nature as many which appear on this CD. It took a few listenings to get used to this ecclectic sampling, but where else can you find someone chanting a passage of the Zohar? In the "Locked Garden" song (Gan Naul), the Shekhina answers the worshiper when he bemoans his inability to find her. I find these particularly powerful. Unfortunately the singers' ability (and range) is far beyond mine, so I can't sing along with them, but I have this same problem with Ofra Haza. What is particularly nice is that the CD includes a pamphlet with all the text, in the original and translation.
