2.0 out of 5 stars Review of the Book, ":The Soul's Remembrance"
I was not at all impressed with this book and how it was written. Very basic information, boring, and didn't give me any insight that I didn't already have. I've read so many books about the afterlife and near death experience etc. and I pray to God it isn't like he describes, because I can't imagine a more boring place to be in the universe. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Soul's Rememberance, June 13, 2000
This review is from: The Soul's Remembrance (Hardcover)
I was hesitant at first to purchase this book because it was "slim." I wasn't sure of its contents, until I sat down and read a few pages and realized once AGAIN...that size has NOTHING to do with content! Once again, I cought myself in an earthly pre-judgement that finds all of us taking more aspirin then we should because MORE is BETTER. I have been studying NDE's (Near Death Experiences) since Raymond J. Moody's classic text came out in the late 1970's, read hundreds of personal accounts, and sifted so many books that I can't count them all, just looking for the kind of succinct, important and personal information that Roy has written so well. In fact, I found myself crying a little bit towards the end when he discussed the Hall where God gives each little soul an interview and a mission...once again, like in Conversations with God, Book 1 (page 69), there was a hint...that if you were reading this book then...umm, well, I won't spoil it for you. Roy's experience is with the classical angel (one of which even had wings), but I know that many other people have recognized them and called them "guides," "teachers," "advanced spirits..." and many other names. I am of the belief that we are presented by these beings with a shape and form that we can assoicate with and recognize. If Roy had been a Buddhist, they may have looked like a Tibetan Lama. But once again, looks are not what count...its the content and the message. The message is the same message I have read over and over and over again...it is the only true messsage that comes from God...Unconditional Love...eternal life...forgiveness...compassion. These are God-Words. I know from my heart and soul, and from more than twenty years of study...his book comes from God...the message is always the same whether the advanced beings are angels with wings, or guides or Tibetan Lamas.

His bent is affirmative of Christian theology, Jesus being the Savior, even in the face of a huge pointing angel insisting that Roy look at something. You have to read the book to get what I mean.

One question I do have, and that is, when it was time for Roy to be escorted to earth to be put into a body, his angel guide made the startling remark..."I can't believe it is him!" referring to a huge angel. We are not told who this HIM is, but I would love to know...does Roy know?

Time and again, I read books and accounts which affirm Roy's before life experience...rooms in buildings, many rooms where things are discussed and taught. Remembering Jesus' own words..."In my Father's House there are many mansions."

But I think that those who study before life/afterlife and death related experiences must know that the message contained in his book is not singular...it is one of MANY, even though we might learn of these facts by other means such as a death rememberance, or by hypnotherapy, by a personal recounting...Roy had a unique question granted to remember from birth...something few of us have the priviledge of because he is so right...If we knew, we would always make the right choices in life and fail to make those decisions which although bringing us pain and displeasure, advance our soul and accelerate our growth. That is the point of why we do not remember. but as in Conversations with God, God said in so many words...All of Life is a Re-Memberance! That is the struggle we all have to go through if we are going to make a worthwhile effort down here in our temporary bodies.

I am not going to give the whole story away to you, but this is a read well worth the effort. In any case, it will definitely help you to re-member some things you had forgotten that you should definitely know about. It's good soul food, lol! I give an A+ to Roy.

This review is from: The Soul's Remembrance (Hardcover)
We all need a reminder once in a while why we are here and this book is the best! I couldn't put it down and loved every word. By the end of the first chapter, I ordered 5 copies for my sisters and friends. I can't wait to read it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expecting Parents take Special Note, March 16, 2000
This review is from: The Soul's Remembrance (Hardcover)
The Soul's Remembrance: Earth is not our home, by Roy Mills, is an account of the author's continuous memory from an existence before being born to his present day existence of life here on earth. While the vast majority of us go through a forgetting of a pre-life when we incarnate, Mr. Mills' unique vantage point addresses a spectrum of spiritual questions from life's littlest curiosities to it's deepest mysteries. However, don't look to Mr. Mills to provide a sophisticated, philosophical approach to spirituality. On the contrary, it is his down to earth sincerity that makes his account compelling, uplifting and, at times, delightful. One of the most intriguing stories in the book is the author's experience in the womb. Have you ever wondered what it is really like for the unborn child? For this account alone I highly recommend this book to any perspective parent, grandparent or friend of an expecting parent. This book may surprise you, delight you, support your faith or challenge it. It has answered many questions for me, but it has also opened new areas of inquiry. If you do buy this book you may find yourself buying another copy for a loved one.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE SOUL REMEMBERS, November 30, 1999
This review is from: The Soul's Remembrance (Hardcover)
In this extraordinary book, Roy Mills reminds us what we all know and seem to forget: THAT WE ARE HERE JUST TO KNOW AND EXPERIENCE WHO WE ARE. Roy is special in a way because unlike us he seems to remember remarkable details about prebirth life in heaven. When you read this book there is an instant sense that you somehow knew or thought or felt about this some other time, but you can't quite put it together. Maybe it was in a movie that you saw somw of it? or maybe a story? heck, maybe you were in heaven and like Roy remember some beautiful details that will enhance our purpose and mission (since we all have one!) in this earth. I would like to know though if when you go back to heaven you could choose to be born again in another civilization, pherhaps one that is more evolved? I wonder, but if you're a person that feels the mind-body-spirit connection this is definately your book. Read it and re-learn that life here is wonderful and every moment of every one of our lives is chosen by us....Heaven is home!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Eye-Opener, June 8, 2000
This review is from: The Soul's Remembrance (Hardcover)
The Soul's Remembrance is one of the most fascinating books I've ever read. The author answers many of the important questions about where we come from and why we're here-- and he does it with such obvious sincerity that my spirit knows his words are true. I've never read anything like Soul's Remembrance, and I recommend it highly to everyone who ever wondered about what happens before we are born on this planet. Roy Mills helped me understand the underlying reasons for suffering, illness and life challenges. The chapter that talks about choosing our own life experiences before we're born was fascinating, to say the least. And his memories of heavenly wonders warmed my heart. This is, without a doubt, a must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Believeable and wonderful!, October 22, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Soul's Remembrance (Hardcover)
I believe this man wrote from his heart. It was a book I didn't want to put down or end. Worth the reading and everyone who feels connected to God will feel the impulse of this book. For those looking for something else, or expecting the pages to be written for their educational standards...I feel for them for lacking the insight necessary to understand what the author is conveying. This is a wonderful inspiring book. All should appreciate the "gift" Roy Mills brings to us having written it for our benefit.

The person I purchased this from got it into the mail right away. I don't recall where it was being mailed from, but it took a little longer than I expected to arrive. The seller is reliable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Interesting, July 1, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Soul's Remembrance (Hardcover)
I enjoyed every page... in fact, I've re-read this book a few times. I enjoyed the story of the author's childhood and felt it to be an integral part of the whole picture, i.e. his chosen lessons and his ability to overcome painful experiences. I did not feel he was "lamenting" his childhood as another reviewer feels. The sad parts made me feel very sad, but they are important. Bottom line, I believe, is if the reader is interested in the subjects of life after life and near-death experiences, he or she will enjoy this book; if a reader is skeptical about this kind of stuff, an understandable point of view, he or she will not enjoy it. It is a book I'd like to give to my friends who are interested in the subject. I have a library of sorts in this area and this book is one of my must-haves.

A GREAT READ. I FOUND IT INSPIRING. It rang true. I had a sense of "knowing" about the entire recount. It was real and true for me. Not a "out there" story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally blown away by the simularies of my own memories, December 21, 2010
This review is from: The Soul's Remembrance (Hardcover)

I think there's sufficient quotes from this book online, and even portions of interviews with Roy Mills published to give potential buyers of this book enough to go on to make a decision as to whether they should buy the book or not. It reads just like you'd expect from all the quotes and interview statements made by the author that are published online. I would NOT suggest buying it thinking it's another Near Death Experience like story from people that have possibly spent minutes outside of their earthly bodies. Most all those NDE'ers were not allowed to go through the gates of heaven (or else there's no turning back) as many were supposedly told.

I have several memories incredibly simular to the author and was blown away reading this book. They are memories you'd reasonably just keep to yourself, because who in the world would relate to them? That's just an assumption you make noting the kind of world we live in. The majority of folks out there don't remember much of anything before 4 years of age. Even to tell them you remember several things when you were a baby is enough for most of them to roll their eyes and think you're somehow delusional.

The issue of Deja Vu mentioned in the book should be enough to gain at least a moderate interest in those that don't recall pre-birth memories, but are open to the idea that we did exist before this life on earth, in that most everyone you'll ask will admit to having Deja Vu experiences and are totally at a loss of explaining such experiences.

Overall for everyone, the issue of faith and free will to be open to the possibilities are important keys in appreciating this book to whatever extent.

If true, that the angel instructed Roy Mills to write this book, its main purpose is obviously aimed at those that do have such pre-birth memories to whatever extent, and are encouraged to focus on them as a source of hope and inspiration in a rather dark age.

I believe Roy Mills is Baptist by denomination to this day, and I myself also have had no inclination to look to the Mormon Church because of my memories of a pre-existence. I think the Mormon Church took many things such as pre-existence from various sources and incorporated them into becoming what they are about.

The book I feel DOES NOT give credence to the interpretations as to what this all means as defined by Mormons. Many including Jews have pre-existence beliefs. The Mormons are ones like Free Masons that have taken many things in the world of cultures and religion and incorporated them into what they're supposedly about. A little of this, a little of that, like a buffet, something to interest and possibly lure most everyone.
