Don't Wait Another Moment - Order This Cookbook NOW!,
By Daphne Soto (Louisiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Soumas Heritage Creole Cookbook (Paperback)
You haven't tried anything until you've tried "Creole Crescent City Rolls"! These appetizers will definitely be the talk of the party! They are fast, easy and delicious. My children (6 & 3 years if age) even enjoy the combination of spinach, cheese, sausage and other mouth watering ingredients stuffed into crescent rolls. If you make under 3 dozen, you haven't made enough! This cookbook is my gift of choice this year! Well done, Ms. Soumas.

A must have Cookbook!!!!,

I love cucumbers, and the recipe "A Cool & Crazy Creole Cucumber" is delicious. I had to make myself stop eating it before I turned into a cucumber! I also love the "Creole Red Beans-n-Rice and Pope's Pralines." Plus the history is wonderful. It is great that Ms. Soumas and her family was able to keep up with the family history throughout the generations. Maybe this cookbook will inspire other African-American families to cherish their family history and traditional family recipes. Just the history alone is worth reading.

Just made the Red Beans and Rice. I didn't know that I could make something from a recipe and it would taste REALLY GOOD. The instructions were clear and concise. I'm ready to try and experiment with other items. I am also going to order some more books to send out as presents. I think my friends will really enjoy this. Thanks,

Some Good Eating Yea,

Being a New Orleans Creole' it is very difficult finding cookbooks that exemplify our authenic cuisine and culture. Panderina has not only captured the essence of our native Creole' foods but our history as a Creole' culture. The recipies are easy to follow and the finished product is "Bon Appetite". I particular like the way she's included family recipes naming some after the family members themselves. Any lover of Creole' foods should not be without this book, it is a must have.Bon Chance' Panderina.

This UNIQUE touch of food and history is blended very well and expressed by the author in such an interesting way. You will find that as you turn each page you begin to feel as though you are a part of the magic in these families / generations. Gives true meaning to the title and ties the true spirit of food and family together is such a remarkable way. A MUST HAVE COOKBOOK!

My spouse never eat leftovers, after obtaining a copy of the cookbook, I prepared the Red Beans and Rice meal. That was the best thing I could have ever done! Not only did my spouse eat two servings of the meal but was also searching for some the next day, which is normally a no- no for him! Thanks so much Soumas Heritage Creole!!!!!!

I can't decide which is better, the Historical Family Notes or the recipes. I recommend at least three copies, one for your kitchen, one for a friend or family member, and one as a keepsake.

Panderina has done a wonderful job of blending history and cooking to create this excellent Creole cookbook....it's not just a cookbook...it's a story of a family from decades past to this new millennium......family recipes that have been verbally passed on from generation to generation are included in the cookbook....the language she uses and the history behind the recipes provide an aura in the kitchen while preparing these delicious dishes.....the flavor of Louisiana cuisine has truely been captured inside the pages of this cookbook....it's definitly a keepsake......
