This is the best EP that's been released in quite awhile. Each song is worth listening to, but the first 5 are absolutely addictive. Musically, they are incredible when it comes to delivering an intense approach, while at the same time creating a soft melodic back-up and versatile combination of riveting vocals behind continuously evolving guitar sequences and peaks.

The Good
"Fools and Thieves" is both melodic and memorable in its delivery. Not only are Cody Jancovic's vocals passionate and resonating on "Suffocating to Stay Alive," but so are the driving riffs delivered by Brain Chiusano and Joe Brule. "Cutting Deep" is a little harder and a little edgier than the other songs on the EP. Power chords and piecing licks give "Prove Them Wrong" and anthemic feel. Warm keyboard tones help set the emotion level on "Waiting for Winter." "Never Let You Down" is the quintessential `tough-guy' ballad in which it stays heavy, but has a lot of sentiment in its lyrics. The Bad Nothing notable The Verdict The first couple of times I listened to the Sound the Alarm EP, I didn't think it was anything special. I knew that when I started humming a few of the songs in my head, that I was becoming hooked. The tracks are loaded with hooks and the dual vocal harmonies are quite captivating. There's a subtle `whiney-ness' to the vocals at times, but at least they're in tune. The Sound the Alarm EP may take a few spins to warm up to, but in the end it's well worth it.

Sound The Alarm for a Great New Musical Force,

Sound the Alarm is a powerfully strong EP. The band formerly known as Sleepwell has put together a melodic blend of cool vocals and strong harmonies that mix tempos punctuated by heavy explosive guitars. Most of the songs start out slower and build to intensity with a crescendo of great guitar breaks blended with smooth powerful vocals.
All the tracks on this disc are great. The production is clean and crisp. Although most people hate comparisons, I would say their sound is somewhat similar to bands like: Name Taken, Just Surrender, Race the Sun, Acceptance and at times reminds me of As Tall as Lions. Fans of those bands should definitely check this out. All killer and no filler on this promising debut under their new moniker. |
