This is a Great "Record", August 17, 2007
This review is from: Sound of Chicago House 1985-2006 (Audio CD)
The first reviewer isn't as abreast to this past music phenom as this white person from the Chicago area at the time (80's) is - these are the backbone of Chicago house as far as I know - a lot of these (long) tracks were the inspirations for the DJ's who "used" these historically brilliant grooves (shorter for more effective use of their air time) to build their own sounds upon, thus creating multi-layered textures that the other DJ's of WBMX in Chicago (mostly amatuers I think) could build upon still some more. I actually quite enjoyed remembering the various DJ's who built upon these grooves to create even better grooves (albeit edited somewhat), but alas, I'm white and can't dance a lick in "public!"

songs of yesteryear, May 15, 2007
This review is from: Sound of Chicago House 1985-2006 (Audio CD)
a great reference of some fine sounds, although the genious of this music was in the mix making the middles and ends of tracks quite booring and predictable. does anyone know of any similar music that has been mixed from this period?
